Have you ever heard this expression? “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure?” Seems appropriate for the healthcare space; right? I can’t help but think of this saying when we learned, earlier today, that Change Healthcare paid a $22 Million ransom to stop a data leak which happened because they didn’t use Multi-Factor Authentication. I’m planning on dropping a long-form article on this later, but here’s a sneak preview: MFA costs about $3 per user / month on average. Change Healthcare paid a $22 Million ransom. Even if they had 1,000 users, at $3 per user /mo, it would take over 661 YEARS(!) of paying for MFA before they would have spent $22M. They could have protected themselves through the year 2635 with that money. 💧An ounce of prevention: $3 per user / mo 🪣A pound of cure: $22,000,000 ransom If you’re going to do DaaS (which you should), do DaaS right! Enable MFA! More to come…
