Amusing video for a variety of reasons: 1. The unironic complaint about a “sub-par” COCOMELON feature being greenlight, while simultaneously bemoaning layoffs. 2. The naive “shock” that layoffs are following a period of rapid hiring. (That’s generally how it works, folks.) 3. The xenophobic expectation that Americans should have preferred status as animation employees. (Why?) 4. The astonishment that corporate gains trump “creative integrity” at major studios. (Welcome to capitalism.) 5. The ignorant positioning of AI as a scapegoat. 6. The expectation that we have a “right to work”. 7. Misplaced faith in the power of unions. 8. The overall wage slave whine. 🙄 But one conclusion is on the money… SUPPORT INDIE CONTENT CREATION Indie animation is THRIVING worldwide! It’s an uncertain time to be a hired gun, but a REMARKABLE time to be an independent producer. https://lnkd.in/gW4x-EHY

I want to tell 100+ people today that they're awesome. Just put your name in the comments and I'll tell you why you're amazing. With more game industry layoffs announced, with the VFX industry still recovering from the writer's strike, and with the news at Kidscreen that no one is buying any animation, there are a lot of people hit hard out there. Sometimes, the future can feel like nothing but doom. I posted this little reel that we put together onto the front page of our website this week. It represents a slice of what we've accomplished in the last 3 years at Future House Studios. It's a reminder to myself and my team that yes, team, you are awesome. So just in case you've been affected by the layoffs, or are feeling down, or just want a quick boost, I'm going to tell you you're awesome. All you have to do is comment below. Post something about you: you're role, your name, your reel, anything, and I'll reply in the comments about how awesome you are. I don't have to know you super well, or even at all. Hey, maybe someone will see your name and want to get to know you better. Or they might see your reel and learn more about you. #youareawesome <----- I can't believe that's actually a #linkedin hashtag. Perfect. #gamedevelopment #gameindustry #entrepreneurship #animationstudio #animation

Conceptual Artist & Instructor: I help professional artists double their income by creating video portfolios.
To everyone affected, do what is necessary to recover and recalibrate. That looks different for everyone. Never forget you as a creative have so much more to offer than artwork alone. Use your ingenuity, evolve, and channel your skills into your next role or create your next role for yourself. You have faculties that will guide you.
It is a hard pill to swallow, but it is a reality. There are many layoffs that have recently occurred and more to come in the animation industry. Do not look at this as a defeat. This is a time of awakening and witnessing the independent artist thrive more in this new age. Do not be deterred, but determined, do not be angry, but excited. Excited about the fact that you have some time before you get busy again, and you will. Reboot yourself and contemplate a new direction if that is what you desire. Time will pass whether you are working or not. Make the best out of your time.

With all of the layoffs happening in the video game industry right now (following the VFX great depression 😑 ), I am sorry for anybody affected. I am just starting to think that the game industry has been a bubble that was rapidly inflating until it burst out. Is that truly the case or am I missing something? Because I have heard that the game industry is much more stable than VFX and Feature Animation and sometimes I consider switching and moving towards a more game-compatible showreel. #animation #gameanimation #gameindustry #vfxindustry

We’ve all heard the classic interview question: “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Well, for those of us in the VFX industry, this question feels like a cosmic joke right now. With the current wave of layoffs and closures hitting the industry, it’s more like, "Where do you see this studio in five years?" This image perfectly captures the sentiment. You're sitting across from some VFX studios, and instead of asking about your five-year plan, the thought on everyone's mind is: "Will this studio even survive for five more years?" In a rapidly changing industry where technology and trends shift faster than the color correction in post-production, stability feels like an illusion. We've seen some amazing studios deliver mind-blowing visual effects one day, only to shut down the next. It's like watching a beautifully rendered CGI scene disintegrate into pixels. And let's be real, no one wants to be caught mid-render when the servers go dark! But amidst all this uncertainty, there’s still a certain charm to the chaos. The VFX industry may be tough, but it’s also filled with some of the most passionate and resilient artists out there. While job security might be about as reliable as a render farm during crunch time, the dedication to the craft is unwavering. The question of survival isn’t just about the studios, it’s about the artists who keep pushing the boundaries of what’s visually possible, no matter how bumpy the road gets. So, when that interviewer asks, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” you might as well answer: “Hopefully, still doing what I love, wherever that may be.” Because in this industry, it’s not about where you’re sitting — it’s about what you’re creating. And hey, if you're lucky, maybe the studio will survive too. #VFX #VisualEffects #CareersInVFX #JobSecurityInVFX #CreativeIndustry #FutureOfVFX #IndustryTrends

We have started producing #videogame #voicereels And if there's one bit of advice I would give to actors who want to get into games or who are looking for a reel it's to play/watch games so you understand more about this form of entertainment. There are so many different types of games out there. So many varied characters and narratives. Loads of different game mechanics. By understanding the format, you'll be able to contribute to what is on your reel that supports your talent and your USP. Your reel is to sell yourself and your talent. You wouldn't go into a job interview if you hadn't read up about the job or the company. So don't head blindly into a reel or game session either. I love collaborating with actors to come up with ideas, scripts and roles that work for them and let their voice shine. But, collaboration is key in order to get the best results for you. Do some research :) It will also help you when you do land a role, to navigate the script and understand a little about the different types of game mechanics your voice will be supporting.

The VFX industry has faced significant challenges over the past and current year, with studios grappling with strikes, layoffs, reductions in hiring, and unemployment. These obstacles, coupled with limited project availability and intense competition, have disrupted connections and workflows across the industry.
