Our vote is for dental wellness! 🙌😄 We’re heartened that the major political parties are committed to improving dental care in the UK. In particular, we're 100% behind the greater focus on preventive care, which is what Well:o's all about. Sharing a broadly similar vision for oral health, the Labour, Conservative & Liberal Democrat manifestos lay out ideas that: ✔️ Promise to address the dental access crisis by unlocking more dental appointments  ✔️ Acknowledge the need to rebuild UK dentistry over the long-term, making reforms to the dental contract ✔️ Commit to the smiles of the next generation ✔️ Will encourage dentists in underserved areas We hope whoever’s in charge come July 5th remains committed to expanding undergraduate training places. Not just for dentists, but for dental therapists and hygiene professionals, as outlined in 2023’s NHS Long-term Workforce Plan. Because although the obvious answer to the UK’s dental access crisis is to increase the number of dentists, we believe that more accessible preventive care is the game-changer. 🚀 Exciting News for Dental Professionals! 🦷✨ The Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact is set to revolutionize dental practice across state lines! This interstate licensure compact allows licensed dentists and dental hygienists to practice in all participating states without the hassle of obtaining multiple licenses. Key Benefits: 🔹 For Licensees: - Seamless multistate practice - Enhanced license portability - Expanded employment opportunities - Improved continuity of care - Support for relocating military spouses - Reduced administrative burden 🔹 For States: - Workforce development and strengthened labor markets - Expanded access to highly qualified practitioners - Preservation of state sovereignty - Increased interstate collaboration 🔹 For Regulators: - Reduced administrative load - Facilitated practitioner mobility during public health emergencies - Jurisdiction retention over practitioners - Enhanced public safety through shared data - Cooperation on investigations and disputes What’s Next? Now that the compact has been enacted in multiple states, each member state must appoint a representative to serve on the compact commission. The state commissioners will convene for the inaugural meeting of the DDH Compact Commission where they will elect an executive committee, vote on initial rules and bylaws, and take other steps for the compact to move towards being fully operational. Let us share a story. Recently, a 56-year-old patient collapsed in our practice Parkview Dental Care's waiting area. The sudden thud was alarming, but our team was prepared. Thanks to our 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, we knew exactly what to do. Our team quickly assessed the situation: the patient was breathing but unconscious. She was placed in the recovery position, and we immediately called 999. Recalling BLS training tips, our team used cold water on her neck to cool her down. She regained consciousness just as the paramedics arrived. The swift actions of our team were praised by both the patient and the paramedics.
