Real-world considerations for mass market traction… “I keep coming back to all the questions I’ve been asking myself ever since I first strapped the Vision Pro onto my head. Starting, of course, with the most important: * Do you want a computer that messes up your hair every time you use it? * Do you want a computer that smears your makeup every time you use it, if you wear makeup? * Do you want a computer that allows the Walt Disney Company to prevent you from taking pictures of what you see? * Do you want to use a computer where you easily can’t show anyone else what you’re looking at? * Do you think the fanciest TV you own should have HDMI inputs? * Do you want to use a computer that doesn’t work as well in a dark room? * Do you want to use a computer that is always looking at your hands? That is a lot of tradeoffs — big tradeoffs, not little ones. And the biggest tradeoff of all is that using the Vision Pro is such a lonely experience, regardless of the weird ghost eyes on the front. You’re in there, having experiences all by yourself that no one else can take part in. After using the Vision Pro for a while, I’ve come to agree with what Tim Cook has been saying for so long: headsets are inherently isolating. That’s fine for traditional VR headsets, which have basically turned into single-use game consoles over the past decade, but it’s a lot weirder for a primary computing device. I don’t want to get work done in the Vision Pro. I get my work done with other people, and I’d rather be out here with them.” https://lnkd.in/gNwPN6n5

Spatial computing is a game-changer for many industries, as it lets you create and interact with virtual objects and environments in the real world. Imagine playing a video game where you can use your hands and eyes to control the action, or watching a basketball game as if you were sitting next to the court. Or how about recording your memories in 3D and reliving them later? That’s what spatial computing can do for gaming and entertainment. Apple’s got a real vision for the future with their new Vision Pro headset and visionOS software. The combo lets you navigate apps and media just by looking around, gesturing with your hands, or using voice commands. This setup enhances multitasking hugely since you can now have multiple apps and windows open at the same time – something that’d otherwise require a bunch of screens to pull off. Apple calls this collective experience “spatial computing” and it really makes the 3D and collaborative possibilities feel endless. #apple #patents #intellectualproperty #technology

Enterprise organizations are getting serious about XR & Spatial Computing! This talk at AWE is a great example, full with Use-Cases and even examples about how XR saved money to large organizations. Most organizations already use some sort of XR headsets and glasses for years (Meta Quest 3, Magic Leap 2, Microsoft HoloLens, etc.), but now with the Apple Vision Pro, more and more organizations are interested in AR/VR. Lets talk about the Apple Vision Pro - Did i buy it? No, i do not have fun money like that. But for science, we did some research on reviews. I noticed so many memes and ads out there that show people going outside with their Vision Pros and im not sure if Apple is pushing for this kind of exposure, but i believe the true value in the Apple device is for the tech-savvy homebodies, connected to their Apple ecosystems & batteries, where they can take true (and Safe) control of their entertainment/computing spaces in a whole other dimension. Compared to other popular VR headset, such as Meta's Quest 3, Apple seemed to have taken more of a commercial stance here, enveloping and even excluding specific tech partners (Music, Entertainment) in their product roll out. However, with doing so, they've been able to get unique, innovative designs and features such as Virtual spaces (such as Disney's Theater) to think, work, and watch some of your favorites movies . Nonetheless, their emphasis to be a 'Spatial Computing' device rather than branding as a 'VR' device has put them in an interesting lane for future developments. My only concern, with its focus for Spatial Computing, i question where Apple's focus and developments are within its 'Gaming' pillar, which is one of the largest motivations from the traditional VR industry. https://lnkd.in/gfuiXmJN

Apple Vision Pro Launches in NZ any day now. Having seen a very good review by Marques Brownlee I'm fascinated by the possibilities this tech has for those with low vision. This device (and other VR tech) obviously can provide the user with a way of zooming and applying sight enhancement filters to display their surroundings in away that suits their particular low vision issue - but the Apple Vision Pro does this with incredibly low latency. But also imagine the device using AI to identify and name objects, (remember Aipoly?), automatic reading (and translation!) of text that you focus your attention on, superimposed magnified images, automatic blind spot & hazard warnings - the benefits and improved accessibility for those with low vision could be life-changing. https://lnkd.in/gMVrSiFN https://lnkd.in/gzQJP3Tk

Microsoft built one of the quietest rooms on Earth, where you can even hear your own heartbeat. This anechoic chamber holds the world record for the lowest sound level at -20.3 decibels. The purpose of this ultra-quiet room is for advanced acoustic testing. With no echoes or ambient noise, Microsoft can precisely test audio components like microphones and speakers for products such as Surface devices and Xbox consoles. This silent environment helps engineers fine-tune sound quality, ensuring their devices perform well in real-world conditions. The reviews of Apple #visionpro #VR head goggles are rolling out. Here's an especially comprehensive review in The Verge. @WSJ review slightly less bullish. But hey, this is version 1.0. With Apple going to the greater industry ecosystem for at least some of Vision Pro's components -- there's more room for super-cool companies to help Apple refine its new gear. #augmentedreality #MEMS #sensors #consumerelectronics #opticalengineering #microelectronics #visionsystems https://lnkd.in/epujPvRJ
