Our talented Lina Kunz just started her US journey as a soccer-playing student-athlete in Louisiana - quite different of course from her home country Austria. Upon her arrival at Nicholls State University, Lina’s first thought was: "I couldn’t wait to meet my teammates and move into my dorm. Everyone was so helpful and supportive." 🌟 She has clear goals for this semester: to get playing time, her team to qualify for the conference tournament, and achieve good grades. in the classroom 🏆📘 Love that, Lina. Good luck with your first semester. #WhatsYourJourney / www.keystonesports.de

Managing Partner, TraverseLegal.com | Founder, TraverseGC.com | The Last Lawyer You’ll Ever Have to Hire
Do you have an enemy? You should. In my experience, a team benefits from having an “enemy” as it helps to elevate its game. Take college football, for example. Why do we love college football? Is it the pageantry? Is it the nostalgia of being back on campus? Is it the ability to bring people together at a tailgate? It’s probably all those things, but at it’s true core, it’s the ability to be a winner that excites most. As a leader, I think it is healthy to find an enemy. Through the years, in my world of law and firm growth, the enemy has ranged from the outdated law practice industry to certain competitors to individual complacency. Competition is an amazing motivator, and it feels great to rally around that as a team in an effort to be a winner. I want to be surrounded by people who play hard, play fair, and play to win. This picture is from a tailgate we hosted in East Lansing last weekend. The Spartans won. I got there at 7AM before anyone else because I was so excited. #enemy #competition #winning

Completed our first Young Alumni Panel for Athletics tonight! I’ve always admired the impact that alumni can have on current student-athletes. We are so thankful for our alumni who shared their experiences & how athletics helped prepare them for their current careers! Some gems from our alumni: - The biggest resource for you to manage isn’t going to be money, it’s going to be your time. - Learn to say no. - Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. - Bet on yourself.

This will be interesting to see how it plays out 10 years from now.
John Carroll University's momentum continues with a new era for athletics: The Blue Streaks will join the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in Fall 2025. “At John Carroll, students can pursue excellence in the classroom and on the playing field without sacrificing one for the other,” said Director of Athletics Brian Polian ‘97. “We work everyday to attract the type of student who wants an exceptional Jesuit education and who wants to compete at the highest level of Division III athletics. We believe that joining the NCAC aligns John Carroll with peer institutions that share a common mission and that attract students from across the country.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/gcNkKSXv

2022 NYS Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee | Yankee Stadium Tour Director, (Ret.), Baseball Historian (SABR),| American History, Environmentalist - NYBG | Fmr. Adjunct Professor - Fordham University
After retiring in 2018, I focused on my passion for education, turning my experiences into a book, "BASEBALL The New York Game – How The National Pastime Paralleled US History." This project aims to help students learn about American history through the lens of baseball. So far, the response to my book has been huge—I’m glad it has helped people explore American history from a new perspective. But I want to take it further than one-off book sales. I’ve designed a program that combines these two concepts of American history and the national pastime. After the program’s initial development, I spent five years introducing and building the program into various middle school curriculums and Fordham University. I want YOUR help to bring this program to schools near you, so we can make an even bigger impact for the young people of America. I'm excited to see how this innovative approach to teaching can inspire young minds and foster a deeper appreciation for our past. 🏀The NCAA tournament is upon us, and while buzzer beaters and Cinderella stories dominate the headlines, let's delve deeper. March Madness generates billions, but how much of that trickles down to Black communities that produce many of the game's stars? Black student-athletes, particularly men, are often the face of college basketball. Yet, graduation rates for Black athletes often lag behind their white counterparts. The revenue these athletes generate for universities rarely translates into academic or financial resources for Black students in general. This #MarchMadness, let's celebrate the game and its incredible players, but also acknowledge the need for a more equitable system. What are your thoughts? How can we ensure March Madness truly benefits the Black communities that contribute so much to the game? Bonus! Who are you rooting for in the men's and women's tournaments? Share your picks in the comments! #DFWBlackMBAs #MarchMadness #CollegeSports
