“The most important thing was honoring the underlying sentiment that we need to protect LGBTQIA+ youth. Because everyone cared so deeply about what this piece was trying to do, it was very collaborative. We had so many wonderful things to choose from, so the most important thing was finding those statements that kept resonating with us and we hoped would resonate with anyone who would watch this film.”
Final Cut editor Zoe Schack speaks with LBBonline - Little Black Book about GLAAD’s beautiful campaign “Protect This Kid,” flipping the homophobic narrative that children need to be protected from the LGBTQ community. Featuring queer icons from today retelling experiences from their youth, this important film artfully distills how and why we must protect LGBTQIA+ kids.

Diversity is absolutely essential for developing strong teams, and high performing organisations that are robust, agile and innovative.
Everybody should feel comfortable to be who they are in the workplace, and every workplace should make effort to ensure it is inclusive.
Visibility is a key part of that.
Happy Pride in Maritime Day! 🏳️🌈
Today, we are celebrating all of the wonderfully diverse individuals that form part of the incredible LGBTQ+ community across our nation's maritime industry.
Without an accepting and inclusive culture, we would not be able to deliver our maritime services 🚢

We’re firm believers that diversity should be celebrated. Yet, according to a 2023 UCLA report, LGBTQ+ youth experience hunger and food insecurity at a rate higher than their peers who do not identify as LGBTQ+. This is partially attributed to LGBTQ+ youth skipping school or avoiding school cafeterias because they are being bullied or feel unsafe, and therefore are missing school meals. When kids are hungry, it's also harder for them to focus in the classroom.
This #PrideMonth, we both celebrate LGBTQ+ youth and acknowledge the unique challenges they face.
All kids deserve unrestricted access to school meals.
All kids deserve to feel safe in the cafeteria.
All kids deserve to feel nourished so they can concentrate in class.
We will always advocate for this. 🏳️🌈

Socialization is a one of the main benefits of public school. It's the opportunity to learn from others, engage and form connections with your peers. A child learns to respectful interaction with people who are different from them. This is pretty basic but fundamental. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is not just theory. It has practical application. The teachers and the school administration have to facilitate this learning, because they have been conditioning the opposite for far too long. Denying one child the opportunity to demonstrate faith and leadership doesn't need the reference to a LGBT group for support. We can't teach what we don't know and we can't advocate for equity and support negativity. We are the role models for goodness sake! Your children's role models are not phantom people on TV. They are watching you.

This fills me with RAGE. Creekside Elementary school in Washington state is being sued. Why? Because they denied a 5th graders request for a prayer group.
Here's the clincher: just one week prior, they approved an LGBTQ Pride group.
REPOST for exposure!!
The child's prayer group was welcome to all religions, even though she's a Christian.
The school tried to use the excuse that all funding for clubs was gone back in October - but that fell apart when parents pointed out the pride club formed the week before.
