Exciting Growth in Saudi Arabia's Hotel Industry! Great things are happening in the hotel industry across four major Saudi cities in 2023! Highlighting notable trends in occupancy rates, average daily rates (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) compared to 2022. 🕋 **Makkah** displayed substantial growth in both Luxury & Upper Upscale and Upscale - Economy+ segments, with a 5% rise in occupancy rates and substantial ADR increases of 36% and 16% respectively. This resulted in an impressive 42% and 33% rise in RevPAR, demonstrating strong performance in the city. 🕌 **Medina** witnessed robust growth in both Luxury & Upper Upscale and Upscale - Economy+ segments, with an impressive 8% increase in occupancy rates. Coupled with substantial ADR rises of 34%, the RevPAR surged significantly, showcasing remarkable growth rates of 46% and 45% respectively. 🏙 **Riyadh** experienced positive growth in both Luxury & Upper Upscale and Upscale - Economy+ segments, with increases of 3% and 7% in occupancy rates. Accompanied by significant ADR rises of 18% and 16%, the RevPAR surged by 22% and 24% respectively, showcasing a thriving hotel market. 🌊 **Jeddah** saw marginal increases in occupancy rates for Luxury & Upper Upscale hotels, while the Upscale - Economy+ segment demonstrated substantial growth of 23%. BWH Hotels (BWH) is set for significant expansion in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, with plans to add eight new hotels and one branded residence to its portfolio. The new properties span various brands, including Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Shades, Aiden by Best Western, and Executive Residency by Best Western. BWH will directly manage three of these properties, marking a milestone for the brand in Saudi Arabia. With tourism on the rise in the region, BWH aims to cater to diverse market segments and contribute to the hospitality sector's growth. The hospitality sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is growing the fastest among the 50 most populous countries in the world, according to a report by the hotel data company “STR”. This comes as part of the Vision 2030 initiative, as the Kingdom aims to attract 100 million visitors annually by the end of the current decade, which requires a significant increase in hotel rooms, as the projects being prepared are a strong sign that efforts are underway to achieve the goal. The expected increases are distributed across several regions, with 4 regions in the Kingdom out of 6 sub-markets expected to witness an increase of more than 75% in hotel supply.

Al Akaria Partners with Marriott to Introduce Autograph Hotel Brand in Riyadh. Riyadh is gearing up to welcome a new 280-key luxury hotel following a recent agreement signed by Saudi Real Estate Co., also known as Al Akaria. The deal with Marriott International will bring the prestigious Autograph Collection brand to the Saudi capital, paving the way for the opening of the new hotel, as per a statement. Construction of the hotel is scheduled to commence in 2025, with an anticipated completion and opening to visitors by 2028, according to the release. Ibrahim Al-Alwan, CEO of Al-Akaria Real Estate Co., expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating, “We believe this partnership will establish new benchmarks in luxury hospitality in the region.” This move underscores Al Akaria’s dedication to boosting tourism and hospitality in Riyadh, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to create attractive destinations for residents and tourists alike. Furthermore, the new hotel will play a key role in the development of a mixed-use destination, featuring commercial facilities, dining options, and entertainment areas. According to Chadi Hauch, regional vice president of lodging development in the Middle East at Marriott International, the tourism landscape in the Kingdom is experiencing rapid and remarkable transformation, presenting various opportunities for expansion. In December, Marriott International announced the commencement of construction for a Ritz-Carlton in the historic town of Diriyah. Prior to this, in November, the hotel giant signed an agreement with Saudi's Sela Sport to develop two new luxury hotels in the country. In September, the hospitality firm unveiled plans for hotels from two of its brands in NEOM’s mountain destination, Trojena.
