𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 Warren Edward Buffett... I came across a great article by Sahil Bloom which described one of Warren Buffet's methods of prioritising tasks. You write down a list of tasks that need completing and then circle the top 3/5. Those top 3 become priorities, whereas the others become avoid at all costs tasks. I decided to give have a go at this and share my priority list with you guys. I am going to do this every Monday around Midday to plan my main aims for the week. 1️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 I have a busy schedule of student consultations booked in around UCAT and medicine/ dentistry applications. I'm looking forward to having personalised conversations with students and trying to give them advice focussed on their situation. As a graduate medical student, I really would've found that useful. Having these conversations is so rewarding! 2️⃣ 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 Writing is something I have always enjoyed and I happen to be in the minority of people who enjoy writing essays. I am going to be publishing a new blog on Flash Revise every Wednesday. I want it to reflect my experience and our values - so a lot of science, neuroscience backed study techniques, all things medicine related. I have a couple of ideas for this weeks - building upon my previous post about spaced repetition. We just created a 2024 spaced repetition UCAT planner and I think a blog post explaining how to use it would be good. Let me know if you have any other suggestions? 3️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 Most of you will not know that I took a period of time away from med school due to health reasons. I became a science secondary school teacher and the UCAT lead @ Flash Revise. However, studying stopped and I would like to pick this back up for when I go back later this year. I think some flashcards to get me back in the swing of things are the plan of action. I am tempted to look at surgical specialties - particularly ophthalmology because its been nearly a year since I had placement at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. So those are my three core priorities for the week. I am going to be using this strategy regularly and will tell you how I get on. Your Thoughts Below ⬇ The sooner we expose students to MSKUS training the earlier adoption to the modality and increased understanding of ANATOMY...(MSKUS is most definitely humbling for anatomy knowledge). As MSKUS gains traction for MANY different clinical applications, it's important to introduce the concept early in education. In my opinion, this could promote more awareness and interest in MSKUS once practitioners reach clinical settings. Interested in learning the fundamentals of medicine? The best way to do that (in my humble opinion) is to make sure that you thoroughly understand the CONCEPTS of the various subjects in (patho-)physiology, pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, etc. These video lectures, hosted and provided by Dr. Najeeb, exactly did this for me: explaining the concepts in great detail. These lectures are extremely valuable and I have learned so very much from them, not to compare with my own lectures that I had when I was a student at the university. Try some of the free lectures and then you are probably ‘sold’ and want to subscribe to the whole package. Worth every cent that you pay!
