Brad Hirsch, Highlander Health’s Co-founder, joined STAT for an insightful virtual panel of health care leaders to discuss making clinical trials more accessible, diverse and equitable for patients and providers. The conversation explored how to remove barriers to participate in clinical trials and policy changes needed to drive this shift. Brad spoke about the importance of community based patient and provider participation in clinical trials. He mentioned how Highlander Health is looking to facilitate engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders and patients to reimagine evidence generation. Highlander Health has kicked off innovative learning labs in Dallas with Baylor Scott & White Health and in New York with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to look to populate data directly from care into regulatory systems and to simplify trial execution. The National Institutes of Health want to hear from you! #clinical research is vital to bring therapies to the millions of #raredisease #patients that currently have few if any treatment choices. But effectively engaging patients, families, and communities at every step of this research is vital to success - how else can we ensure the research really addresses what our communities need most? NIH Seeks Information to Empower Public Voices in Clinical Research. Specifically, NIH is seeking public input on preferences, experiences, and recommendations relating to increasing public engagement in all phases of #clinical #research. NIH asked the Novel and Exceptional Technology and Research Advisory Committee (#NExTRAC) to form the ENGAGE Working Group, which includes patients, advocates, researchers, clinicians, non-profit representatives, and more. Today, NIH is launching the first phase of public outreach via a host of events and resources:   * NIH ENGAGE webpage with background information about clinical research engagement, the Engage Working Group, upcoming NIH events, and more.   * NIH released a request for information today seeking public feedback to inform the efforts of the ENGAGE Working Group.   *The NExTRAC will be meeting on June 17, 2024 to discuss the Engage Working Group’s progress to date.    * NIH will be hosting an informational webinar related to the request for information on July 17, 2024, which will also include significant time for public feedback.    * Read the NIH blog to learn more about clinical research engagement and the efforts of the Engage Working Group.   Questions may be sent to SciencePolicy@od.nih.gov. Highlights of our collaborative efforts also included supporting impactful initiatives like the 𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐏 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞4𝐃𝐄𝐈, which raised awareness for diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials. We were also honored to contribute to meaningful causes through donations to the 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐭 and the 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, reinforcing our commitment to making a positive difference within and beyond the clinical research community. 2024 was a year of growth, impact, and strengthened partnerships, and it’s only the beginning. From the Cameroon International Tech Summit to our intense Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns, every experience showed me that real change happens when passion meets purpose. Highlights that shaped my journey: At CITS 2024, I discovered how technology could revolutionize healthcare. "CITS reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and resilience in shaping Cameroon's technological future." Seeing entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals unite was a powerful reminder that solutions often emerge at unexpected intersections. https://lnkd.in/exyYSgm4 During Breast Cancer Awareness Month with PBOHI, we proved that community education is our strongest weapon.
