📢 International Youth Day: From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.🌃 As we anticipate celebrating International Youth Day on the 12th of August, KIBESCO reaffirms its dedication to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its agenda. This week, we would like to highlight SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. In Kenya, especially in areas like Kibera, the importance of sustainable urban development cannot be overstated. KIBESCO, born out of stories and personalities raised in Kibera, has witnessed first-hand the challenges of urbanization but also the incredible potential for transformation through community-driven initiatives. Therefore, we commit to being at the forefront of this agenda. Sustainable development in such areas is crucial for improving living conditions and fostering resilient communities. Now, "What does it take to have sustainable cities and communities?"—It takes the dedication, innovation, and active involvement of the youth. We must advocate for and implement sustainable practices, ensure inclusive urban development, and promote resilience in our communities. Stay tuned for more! #sdg #sgd11 #sustainability #urbanization #citylife #cities #community #communitydevelopment

🌍 Promoting Social Equity for Sustainable Development in Moldova 🌱 At the Green Building Council of Moldova, we believe that social equity is a cornerstone of sustainable development. As we strive to create a greener future, it’s essential to ensure that all communities benefit from our efforts. Social equity means providing equal access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making processes for everyone, regardless of their background. In the context of sustainable building and urban development, this principle helps us create inclusive spaces that cater to diverse needs and promote well-being. By prioritizing social equity, we can: Empower Communities: Engaging local voices in planning processes ensures that developments reflect the true needs and aspirations of residents. Enhance Resilience: Equitable access to sustainable resources strengthens community resilience against environmental challenges. Foster Economic Growth: Creating jobs and training opportunities in sustainable sectors helps uplift marginalized groups and stimulate the economy. Together, let’s advocate for policies and practices that promote social equity in our sustainable initiatives. A truly sustainable Moldova is one where everyone has a seat at the table! Join us in this vital conversation and help build a more inclusive future for all. #SocialEquity #SustainableDevelopment #GreenBuilding #Moldova #InclusiveGrowth

The SDG'S concept aims at promoting the kind of development that minimises environmental problems and meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the future generations Abilities guided by the pillars : 👨👩👧👧People🌱Planet🤝Partnerships🕊Peace and 🏭prosperity. Often times the question of who is/are the player(s) in accelerating the SDG'S concept comes up, in my view having been involved passionately in projects that aims to make the concept a reality,I would say that there should be a unity of Purpose that jointly, collectively and inclusively brings all the many sectors together 🤲. The government should establish national frameworks eg Kenya Vision 2030, Private Companies/NGOs/Faith Based Organisations should have a platform of partnerships and networks that creatively and innovately comes up with a collective action the schools/universities/college come up with the curriculum/awareness campaigns and community needs to be involved in order to thoroughly achieve the SDG'S. By having all sectors (partnership and networks)involved, creating advocacy and education, Using the technology, having policies ,good governance systems and structures this will be a reality. A great class led by Emmanuel Ola-Olowoyo #AIIDEV #chamiponsofchange #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #agenda2030 #theafricawewant

In the heart of Kenya, a vibrant dance unfolds between Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and community development. Picture this: EIA is like a wise guide, donning a detective hat, and exploring how projects affect Mother Nature. It's like nature's Sherlock Holmes! 🤣 Meanwhile, community development is the superhero cape, swooping in to ensure everyone gets a piece of the progress pie. In Kenya, these two forces join hands like old pals at a party. EIA taps into its detective skills to make sure projects play nice with the environment. It's the environmental referee, blowing the whistle when nature needs protection 😉 . On the other side, community development puts on its superhero cape, ensuring that local folks don't just watch the show but become stars in it. It's a dynamic duo, working together for a brighter, greener tomorrow in Kenya. So, as EIA and community development tango across the Kenyan landscape, they're not just partners; they're the rhythm of progress, the beat of a better future! 😎 #fypシ゚ #environmental #sdgs2030

This #WorldDayforCulturalDiversityforDialogueandDevelopment, let's celebrate the vibrant tapestry of cultures that enrich our world. Locally-led development is key. Top-down approaches to aid and development often fail to consider communities' unique needs and cultural contexts. Adeso stands in solidarity with proximate leaders worldwide, as they reclaim and revitalize their unique cultural heritage. Traditional knowledge systems and cultural practices hold immense value and are best understood and implemented by the communities themselves. By embracing locally-led development, we can ensure aid and development efforts are culturally appropriate, effective, and co-created alongside communities. Tebtebba Indigenous UN CC:Learn The Indigenous Peoples' of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC) Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Organizational Development (CIKOD) Institute for Law and Environmental Governance Indigenous Information Network (IIN) #CulturalDiversityDay #InterculturalDialogue #UnityInDiversity #CelebrateDiversity #GlobalHarmony In the picture below, The Walking Classrooms of Marsabit. From 2014-2017, Adeso worked with communities in Kutura, Marsabit County, in Kenya, a village close to the Ethiopia border that is home to 950 pastoralists. For generations, Kutura residents have depended on livestock to earn a living. Since animals need water and pasture to thrive, communities move in search of these precious resources, which often means children and youth are unable to attend formal school. Celebrating cultural diversity, such as this, Adeso and the community created the Mobile Non-Formal Education (MNFE) Center to address this reality. Over the two-and-a-half-year project duration, the MNFE educated nearly 400 youth, 70% of whom were girls.
