📍You're a founder in Nairobi: POV Your customer wants to watch YouTube videos on your payroll app. There are 10K people with expert level advice ready to tell you everything you're getting wrong. Bloggers have already written your start-up's death note, their big thumbs hovering on the send button, waiting for you to trip, just a little. There's even a page(s) dedicated to humiliate and mock Founders in the name of humor. The regular software engineer thinks you're a delusional Superman. You think nobody understands you - the truth is, we don't have to. Your person either really believes in you or ako bus stop🚏 😂 Your family and friends keeps sending you job opportunities. 📌As a fellow founder, what I'd say is, let's support each other. In whatever way possible. Keep the dream alive.🚀

One of the most sought-after and highest-paid roles in the US is available in Africa. African software developers could be the perfect match to complete your team. Check out the data: ->There were nearly 700,000 professional software developers in Africa in 2023. That's according to data from LinkedIn, and the IFC. ->More than half of those are in South Africa, Egypt, and Nigeria. And those numbers are growing quickly. In 2022, several African countries were among the fastest growing on GitHub, a platform used by developers. Nigeria's GitHub community grew 69% year over year, and Ethiopia's grew 66%. The world is changing. The average tech team will look a LOT different in 5 to 10 years time. Exciting to watch it unfold.

Day One of Posting Things I Did in the Past 12 Months because I believe LinkedIn is the new resume. About 10 months ago, my buddy and classmate Abenezer Seifu and I wrapped up our first big project. It took us 2 months to build a Java app with an SQL database to manage the traditional IDIR social system in Ethiopia. Back then, we only knew some OOP and a bit of SQL, but we jumped right in. We started this project as a way to deepen our understanding of OOP and database design. After finishing it, I kind of regretted it, thinking I hadn’t learned anything useful. But now, revisiting the project for this post, I am truly amazed at what we have achieved. We approached the project with great attention to detail and implemented every feature we could think of that was necessary for the IDIR system. This included managing members, officials, financial records, issuing receipts, and tracking agendas. Despite its flaws and security issues, we managed to design a database, negotiate to refactor the source code (one of the best skills I acquired), and use Swing (yeah, I know, why not use something fancier? But learning the hard way was worth it) and pure SQL queries—all while discovering and implementing design patterns we only formally learned about in later courses. This project, despite its imperfections, is the one I am most proud of. It’s where I began my journey as a software engineer and learned programming the hard way. #SoftwareDevelopment #OOP #SQL #LearningByDoing

🇱🇰 I often get asked the question, why Sri Lanka? Well, aside from the awesome beaches, picturesque landscapes, and delicious food, making it a great excuse to visit; the quality of software engineers in the workforce is phenomenal! Hiring software developers in Sri Lanka provides European businesses with three very distinct advantages. 💬 Other than the fact that English is widely spoken and understood in Sri Lanka, the country also has a highly skilled workforce of software developers who excel in various programming languages, development frameworks, and modern technologies. For us, Sri Lanka has been a great place where we can attract the top developers that are hard for our client to find in Europe. 💰 In addition to high-quality software developers, due to the cost of living being much lower in Sri Lanka, hiring great developers here can help businesses reduce their overall development costs while maintaining high-quality standards. This is particularly appealing to companies who seek high-quality work but face budget constraints! ⏰ The time zone difference between Sri Lanka and Europe is small (around 2.5 to 3.5 hours). This makes it very easy for the developers in Sri Lanka to be 100% integrated into the teams in Europe and work most of the day together, making collaboration smooth. Our clients also think it's very convenient to have developers who have already had time to work on projects before they have started the day! This combination of a skilled workforce, cost-effectiveness, and strategic time zone advantages is exactly why Sri Lanka is a wonderful destination for European companies looking to optimise their teams! #WhySriLanka #SoftwareEngineers #TechTalent #CostEffectiveness #GlobalCollaboration #TimeZoneAdvantages #EuropeanBusiness #SkilledWorkforce #OptimiseTeams

Hi, how can we collaborate to create a Botswana Report on The State of the Software Developers. Or is there one that already exists to get an overview of the tech trends in our country, developer salaries and software engineer skills?

Web Consultant | Web Developer | Frontend & Backend Expert |Technical writer | Transforming Ideas into Seamless Digital Experiences | Open to Exciting Opportunities | Health Lover | Traveler
It was a normal evening, and I was deep into a web development project, eyes glued to the screen, fingers typing furiously. My internet was holding up, the deadline was looming, and I was in the zone. Then, it happened. Boom! The power went out. In Africa, we know this all too well. The infamous power outage is one of those challenges we deal with every day. But this time, something clicked. I had two options: curse my luck and let frustration win, or find a way to adapt, to work smarter. I chose the latter. With my laptop battery running low, I tethered to my phone for data and got to work. I realized then that being a web developer in Africa is more than coding skills. It’s about innovation, adaptability, and resilience. Every day, we face hurdles, whether it’s unstable electricity, inconsistent internet, or even access to global platforms. Yet, we continue to build, create, and inspire change. That power outage was a reminder: the challenges we face are not obstacles—they’re opportunities. We, as African developers, have the potential to lead global change because we’ve mastered the art of thriving in the toughest conditions. So, to every tech enthusiast out there, keep pushing through. Whether it’s in coding, app development, or tech innovation—keep learning, keep building, and keep inspiring. Our future in tech is bright, and we’re just getting started. #TechAfrica #Resilience #WebDevelopment #Innovation #AfricanTech #KeepBuilding — Paschal Chikwado, Web Developer
