Reality Check:Working in HR While HR may appear to be a glamorous and influential role, the reality is often filled with challenges and responsibilities that go unnoticed. 1. The Emotional Labor: HR professionals frequently find themselves in the difficult position of conveying tough messages—be it during layoffs or performance discussions. The ability to handle these conversations with grace and empathy is crucial. 2. Navigating Employee Feedback: While exit interviews can provide valuable insights, they often lack full transparency. Employees may hold back their true feelings, making it difficult for HR to gain an accurate understanding of the workplace culture. 3. The Need for Action: Collecting feedback is just the first step. HR must work alongside leadership to ensure that employee voices lead to meaningful change. Without this collaboration, the potential for organizational growth diminishes. 4. Facing the Music: Despite their best efforts to create a compliant and safe work environment, HR often goes unrecognized. Unfortunately, when issues arise, they are frequently the first to be blamed. For Aspiring HR Professionals: Remember to enter this field with a mindset focused on service and impact, rather than seeking accolades. Your role is to foster an environment where employees feel valued and heard, even when the spotlight isn’t on you. If you’re ready to take on the challenges, a career in HR can be incredibly fulfilling, offering opportunities to make a real difference. What challenges have you faced in your HR journey? #HumanResources #CareerGrowth #EmployeeExperience #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture

"The Middleman" Music Manager, HR, Talent Manager | Business Owner at Family Business, Vlarde | Leading E-commerce Growth
🛠️ The Balance of Hiring and Letting Go in Human Resources 🛠️ As HR professionals, one of our most critical responsibilities is building teams through smart hiring decisions, but equally important is knowing when it’s time to let someone go. Both actions are crucial to fostering a healthy and productive work environment. 🔑 Hiring is about more than filling roles—it's about finding the right people who will contribute to a positive culture, drive innovation, and grow with the company. 💼 Letting go is never easy, but sometimes necessary for both the individual and the organization. It's about transparency, empathy, and ensuring the decision is in the best interest of all parties involved. As HR leaders, it’s our job to: - Hire with intent: Prioritize skills, cultural fit, and long-term potential. - Fire with compassion: Handle difficult conversations with care and professionalism. At the end of the day, these decisions shape the future of our organizations. Let’s strive for fairness, understanding, and a people-first approach in all we do. #HumanResources #HRLeadership #Hiring #LettingGo #PeopleStrategy #HRBestPractices #CompassionInBusiness #TeamBuilding

Partnering with agency founders (>$1.5M ARR) to 4x sales, marketing & retention results | $80M+ in ARR generated for agencies
Most agency founders ignore this ONE thing (that leads to millions in $ lost). A dedicated HR function. ↳ Your most important asset is your people. ↳ Your most important hire will be your Head of HR. ↳ Your highest impact long-term strategy will be investing in your culture & HR. Culture isn’t just → Free food → Friday beers. → Virtual escape rooms etc. It’s a science of a thousand little drops that brews high-performance teams. It requires ↳ 100% authenticity from the top down ↳ 100% vulnerability from the top down ↳ 100% “care factor” from the top down And in most cases, founders don’t “get it”, and it’s the MOST expensive mistake they’ll ever make. (I’ve seen founders lose MILLIONS in churn) Get it wrong and → Get hit with a flurry of resignations → Disengaged employees will “dial it in”, doing the bare minimum → Work quality plummets, churn goes through the roof, and profits dive. Instead, invest in one of the most important hires you’ll make. A Head of People and Culture/Head of HR. Someone who’ll revolutionise → Work capacity → Employee retention → Employee productivity → Employee satisfaction → Employee onboarding → Candidate recruitment & lots more Stop sleeping. Invest heavily in HR. And experience new levels of growth you never thought was possible. Ps, Need a JD + KPIs for this role? Comment “culture” below.

Do you have power in HR? 💪 The truth is, HR isn’t about wielding power; it’s about influence, guidance, and support. We’re not the ones making every final decision, but we’re there every step of the way, ensuring that decisions are fair, informed, and in the best interest of both the company and its employees. Throughout my career as an HR professional, there have been times when managers tried to pass on their “power” to me by having me lead tough conversations with employees or communicate terminations or adverse actions. At first, I took on these tasks, thinking I was helping the manager, but I soon realized that instead of helping them, I was hindering their ability to experience and manage difficult situations. Once I noticed this, I started to help the manager and provided them with tools to have the conversation themselves, with me offering support. ✨ HR’s real strength lies in our ability to shape company culture, advocate for employees, and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and respected. We navigate complex situations, mediate conflicts, and create policies that promote a positive work environment. Our role is crucial, even if it’s not always front and center. So, while we might not have "power" in the traditional sense, our impact is undeniable. We’re the bridge between leadership and the workforce, making sure that the organization runs smoothly and that everyone feels valued. 👉 What are some of the ways you are using your power to make an impact? #elementofchange #leadershipcoaching #leadershipdevelopment #difiicultfeedback #communicationskills #healthcareorganizations #retailorganizations #hr #hrmanager

Fractional Talent Management Senior Executive | Employee Experience Design | Organisational Psychologist | Two Published Books
Senior Business Leader: Our Glassdoor reviews are poor, employees are not very motivated, and my managers constantly complain. Head of HR: Sure, I will put a strategy together. Senior Business Leader: Do you have data on where the problem is coming from? Head of HR: No, so we will do an overall engagement strategy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- HR often implement strategies without information on where their problem lies which is like taking a medicine without knowing the illness. - Do you know why you cannot attract the calibre of talent you want to have? - Do you know why recruitment efforts do not yield the desired result? - Do you know to what level your onboarding enables performance? - Do you know why employees are demotivated? - Do you know why employees don't perform? - Do you know why the level of competence is below the required? - Do you know why people leave? - Do you know why the talent pipeline is not moving? - Do you know your talent inventory? What competencies do you have and need? Without information, you cannot form strategies and provide solutions and the people who have the information are the employees so maybe it would make sense to listen to them. Tidying up HR is not difficult but you must have information. #employeeexperience #hr #strategy #employee #workplace

Working in Human Resources can be a thankless job. HR often manages recruiting, hiring, training and onboarding, annual review processes and policies, employee benefits, performance issues, *and* company culture initiatives — I talk with HR leaders every day for Bright Breaks, and it’s mind-blowing just how much they do. And yet HR team members are often some of the first to be cut during layoffs. It doesn’t add up. ⬇️ Talk to any HR leader and you’ll realize they usually have a pulse on the whole organization. They can tell you which teams are thriving and which are crumbling under a toxic manager. They can rattle off a list of ideas they have for refining company culture, increasing productivity, and boosting employee well-being. They’re constantly looking for ways to help their employees. HR is the heartbeat of many organizations, whether the senior leadership team realizes it or not. 📣 So thank your HR team today. Loudly. They’re doing one of the hardest jobs in your company. They definitely deserve a little fanfare. 👏 #hrleaders #hrprofessionals #shrm
