Please see this important update from Patricia Parker OBE! Please do share in your networks. Thank you
It has been such a terrible time worrying about everyone in Darfur, not least our Programme Manager Hassan and his family, and our volunteers and of course everyone in all of our villages. I have been doing my best to keep in touch and at last have found a way to help right now. I don’t know if you have seen any of the UN reports? There is virtually no support reaching North Darfur and the appalling spectre of Famine is a word they are now using. The price of all food stuffs has rocketed. With convoys struggling to get into Sudan we cannot hope to purchase in bulk at a better price so we are concentrating on what is available – but far out of the price of local families. Although we have been careful to husband reserves over the years they will not last with the costs I am now being quoted. We have launched an Emergency Appeal - https://lnkd.in/efZwTpEK - but with the incredible news that we have been able to provide seeds for the first six villages. That has succeeded and we are now determined to help more. Please can you help? Can you tell everyone you know that it is possible to do something - it will save children's lives. See this link too: https://lnkd.in/eGp86hp5 Do get in touch with me if you have any suggestions about more I can do too please. Thank you!

🌾 KIDS KITCHEN KITS LAUNCHED TO GIVE CHILDREN VITAL NUTRIENTS 🌾 With the UN World Food Programme (WFP) announcing famine in Darfur this week, Kids for Kids has launched a ‘Kids Kitchen Kits’ initiative to provide malnourished children with the nutrients they vitally need. Children across Darfur are desperately in need of protein, minerals and vitamins. Without these essential nutrients, children face stunted growth, bone, teeth, hair and even brain damage. 💔 Our Kids Kitchen Kits, launched this week, include lentils, ground nuts and cooking oil, to provide essential proteins and minerals for healthy growth. 💪 💝 Patricia Parker OBE, Founder of Kids for Kids, says, “We were already worried about families before the conflict started in April 2023. We are hopeful that, thanks to our Steering Committee – all volunteers in Darfur, determined to help their own people – we will be able to distribute Kids Kitchen Kits to more of our villages, providing immediate food staples, including desperately needed protein, to help children survive. We need to act quickly to get children and their families the help that they desperately need.” The aim currently is to provide one Kitchen Kit to every family with children under 5 in each of our villages. Please can you donate Kids Kitchen Kits and help us transform children’s health and ensure children receive vital nutrition? 👉 https://buff.ly/4fssNbz #WednesdayWisdom #KitchenKits #ChangeLives #Children #Famine #Darfur

💛 FAMINE RELIEF: EMERGENCY FOOD REACHES OUR VILLAGES 💛 We are proud to announce that, despite ongoing violence, we are managing to deliver famine relief for starving children living in remote villages in Darfur, out of sight of the world. Families have been living off assida (a carbohydrate) with many children surviving on one meagre meal a day and their parents often eating just one meal every 2 to 3 days. This cannot continue. 💔 We were desperate to help and now we have found ways to do so, thanks to wonderful volunteers in Darfur. 💖 With your support, sacks of sorghum and millet, staple grains essential for the survival of our families facing food insecurity and famine, are being delivered to six of our villages – Azagarfa, Abu Diegeis, Um Ajaja, Lawabid, Um Hagalig and Tartoura Berkat – in the North Darfur region to provide immediate relief so mothers can feed their starving children. 🥰 These sacks provide emergency food now but also seeds which must urgently be planted if families are to have the chance of a crop for next year. 🌾 We could not have done this without you, thank you! 😍 But this so far is only six of our villages - and there are 110 Kids for Kids' villages.... Please can you help us reach more families by donating a little more to our Emergency Appeal? Can you imagine living off one scant meal every 3 days? Even the price of a sandwich here will make such a difference in Darfur. 👉 https://buff.ly/3Ou3PNq #TuesdayThoughts #GivewithLove #ChangeLives #Children #Famine #Darfur #AlleyesonSudan

EMMA & SUSANNA ARE TAKING ON THE NEW FOREST MARATHON FOR US! 🏃♀️ 💛 Delighted to hear that Emma Paterson and her aunt Susanna Austin are joining forces for the children of Darfur and have signed up to the New Forest Marathon on 8th September this year! Emma has very kindly taken on two sponsored half marathons for us in the past and says about this new challenge: "It will definitely help me get through the daunting prospect of the marathon knowing that I have a great reason to be running it. The main challenge is definitely staying injury free. The New Forest is so lovely - I'm hoping once I'm there I won't notice the distance so much!" And Susanna says: "I've supported Kids for Kids through Emma's fundraising before but this time will be spending EVEN LONGER on my feet than Emma at the New Forest Marathon. I did the London marathon in the mid 90s in 4.5 hours and I think I can just get under that this time. Supporting those struggling in Sudan in such a sustainable way as you do will also help me to keep going." Emma and Susanna's fundraising page is below - they would love it if you could spur them on with their training by donating whatever you can! 👉 https://buff.ly/4c2X6m8 #GoEmma #GoSusanna #Marathon #NewForest #PersonalChallenge #ChildrenofDarfur #GivewithLove #ThursdayThoughts
