Not Two States, Not One State: A New Way Out of Disaster for Israelis and Palestinians. Confession: For about a decade, I’ve supported a confederated association of two states as the better framework for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (there is no best). There are some key differences between this approach and the traditional two-state solution, whose details were hammered out over 20 years ago in negotiations. https://lnkd.in/eNhuTF_y As I usually like sharing Guardian articles for their deep analysis, I share this one for the correct diagnosis but the ever wrong old stuff prospective solution. When will western "humanist" journalists and analysts wake up regarding the unbalance of the parties for a deal ? Whatever its government, Israel is a Middle East power, supported by the US and Europe and the administrative and military occupier and Apartheid manager of the other side. This other side is even not a state, only an "Authority" (a unique status in the world) on Palestinian Banthustans (area C) that Israel cross daily at its will, with no army, and a total economic and security ependence, submission to Israel... So, stop being naive or idiot when presenting a dead two-state solution, which has no more sense with all the settlements that won't be disloged. Would Israeli really be democrats (I doubt), the only solutions now are 1) one state with full rights for all citizens, be they Israeli or Palestinians, 2) a confederate state that would need to dismantle many settlements, 3) a new Nakba of all Palestinians...Guess what ? All other solutions are old failed recipes for reasons still active : the zionist project.

Keeping turning a blind eye to the root causes of this conflict, the huge elephant in the room which many leaders in the western world don't want to address, is the best guarantee that destruction of human life and goods will persist, with illusionary pauses at best. Any so-called solution that only addresses the symptoms and conveniently circumvents their root causes is doomed to fail. More generally, in business contexts this type of behavior merely generates value losses, but in geopolitical contexts it leads to human disasters.
