Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. A Mental Illness is a physical illness of the brain, that causes disturbances in thinking, behaviour, energy or emotion that make it difficult to cope with the ordinary demands of life. What Can You Do To Help: Showing individuals respect and acceptance removes a significant barrier to successfully coping with their illness. Having people see you as an individual and not as your illness can make the biggest difference for someone who is struggling with their mental health. Advocating within our circles of influence helps ensure these individuals have the same rights and opportunities as other members of your church, school and community. Learning more about mental health allows us to provide helpful support to those affected in our families and communities. Your Donations will help the Mental Health Foundation, to continue to create a moment where we can all come together to build a society with good mental health where everyone can thrive. Today kicks off Mental Health Awareness Month. Did you know that stable, affordable housing is the biggest hurdle for someone with a mental illness to overcome on their path to wellness? Access to stable housing increases the likelihood that individuals will engage in mental health treatment and support services. It provides a reliable base from which they can attend appointments, participate in therapy, and adhere to medication regimens, all essential aspects of managing mental illness effectively. You can break this barrier by joining us for Big Day of Giving. Your donation today through May 2nd helps provide stability crucial for mental health because wellness starts with a home. https://lnkd.in/dvqej4xu

We need your support this May to empower children's mental health with EQJOY! Did you know that half of all lifetime mental health issues begin by age 14? One in six children aged 2-8 are already facing mental, behavioral, or developmental disorders. In response, EQJOY is dedicated to combating these challenges by developing emotional intelligence in children through engaging play. This May, during Mental Health Month, our goal is to raise $10,000 to distribute the EQJOY card game to children in need. EQJOY is a research-based card game that has been developed to give children the EQ skills to cope and thrive in the fast-transforming, challenging world in which we live. "One of the biggest benefits of the game is that it will give children a working vocabulary to use to talk about and process these emotions when they actually arise," notes a participating teacher and author. Thanks to our partners, including Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation, Boys Town, Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County, and Wings for Kids, we are spreading this impactful tool further. Your contribution can make a real difference. Every donation counts, no matter the size. Please visit www.eqjoy.org/donate to help us reach our $10,000 goal and bring vital emotional learning to more children!

Almost half way through Mental Health Awareness Month and I'm 75% to 100km and 70% to my $1000 target. Thank you immensely to those who have donated so far, these funds are incredibly helpful to conduct crucial research and develop ground-breaking mental health treatments, education, and digital services, such as: The Hope Exchange - a suicide prevention program which uses algorithms to identify at-risk individuals and targets them with advertising designed to lead them away from suicide and towards personalised, deeply engaging support pages. In-school presentations to better equip students, teachers, parents and caregivers with knowledge and resources to actively understand and manage their mental health. Providing evidence to government policy makers to help improve Australia's mental health system. Thanks to your support, we are able to provide policy makers with gold-standard evidence to help them make better decisions on mental health policy and we share the stories of our community members to show the urgent need to prioritise mental health in Australia. Again, thank you to everyone who has helped through the campaign I appreciate every little bit! #OneFootForward #Blackdoginstitute ##MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness

Today kicks off #MentalHealthWeek, a national celebration encouraging social connection, and an opportunity to promote effective prevention strategies to maintain mental wellbeing in all Australians. This important week aims to increase the mental wellbeing of all Australians by encouraging each of us to support and look out for one another, and continue to raise awareness of #MentalHealth issues and reduce the stigma that can be associated with seeking help. According to the Black Dog Institute: 🧠 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness in any year. 🧠 9 people in Australia die by suicide every day, with men accounting for over 75% of these statistics. 🧠 Over 50% of people living with mental illness will not seek professional help. 🧠 Early intervention is key. 75% of #MentalHealth conditions begin before the age of 25, which means the work Black Dog Institute does in promoting mental health education and prevention is crucial. This month, I am taking part in #OneFootForward, walking 500km to raise funds to help Black Dog Institute continue its incredible work in mental health research, education and support. The funds raised directly contribute to programs that provide hope and support to those who need it most. My target of $500 will help develop research programs to teach children with anxiety or depressive symptoms healthier ways of thinking. Please click on the link below and make a donation to support my walk for mental health.

I'm doing this thing for mental health awareness. I thought, since I do love walking and do it often enough anyway, why not do it to spread awareness. Sadly, 1 in 5 people experience a mental illness each year. In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people die by suicide. Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it but those around them. A bunch of us a Kinetic IT are contributing to October's One Foot Forward campaign for Mental Health Month through the Black Dog Institute. We've all set different goals for ourselves based on our capabilities and this month, I'm walking 150km in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide. If you'd like to support us please do donate, any amount counts. Or even better, why not join us? Our goal is to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute, so that they can put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most. https://lnkd.in/gff4b8QH

We’re in the final hour of our #OutOfTheShadows 🌕 campaign! Your support can make all the difference in these final moments. Many parents experience the “baby blues” after birth, a temporary feeling of sadness, anxiety, or overwhelm. But for some, these feelings don’t go away and can turn into something more serious: perinatal mental illness. Knowing the difference between the two is vital, and it’s something we want every parent to understand. With your support, we can build a free, accessible content hub to help parents recognise the signs, understand their mental health, and seek the support they need. This is your last chance to double your donation and double your impact. Help us bring perinatal mental health #OutOfTheShadows 🌕 and ensure that no parent faces these challenges alone. Donate now before time runs out: https://lnkd.in/gixGYVdY
