Designer and curator of fun, secretly priming young brains to become the best they can be socially, emotionally, behaviorally and cognitively
THIS is why kids seem to misbehave so much these days. They are not moving their bodies enough. How do we know? Study after study tells us that kids are weaker than they have ever been. That means they aren't moving. If they aren't moving, their brains will make them move anyway. But if we get them moving, the POWER OF PLAY will satisfy their brains and they will be ready to learn and attend. #movementpowerslearning #outsmartthewiggles #powerofplay #playmatters #strongbodiesstrongbrains #movemorelearnmore

👓Reslience Code Part 7👓 In my previous posts, I introduced the 5 core components of The Resilience Code for Kids: 1) Being SAFE, 2) Being SEEN, 3) Being WANTED, 4) Being COMPETENT, and 5) Being a CONTRIBUTOR and I shared some ideas on providing kids with experiences of SAFETY including Physical Safety, Emotional Safety, and Social Safety. In this post, I’ll discuss the second major component of The Resilience Code: Being SEEN. It’s a stressful and distracting world we live in. A consequence of that stress and ubiquitous distractions is that many kids aren’t SEEN. Kids need to be noticed and unconditionally accepted. Their needs must be recognized and attended to by adults—that’s why they are kids! Children and youth need to be protected, valued, and treasured to develop robust resilience. The distress of not being seen can be observed very early in a child’s life. Check out the video linked below on Dr. Edward Tronick’s classic “Still Face Experiment.” A similar video suggests that a parent attending to their cell phone and not their child is experienced as a “still face” by the child. The need to be seen is in all of us. In children and youth who are still developing, it is essential. Consider ways in which you can increase your attention, interaction, unconditional acceptance, and value messages to the kids you care about experience. “I see you” are three very important words when building resilience. In our current context, we probably cannot say or do that enough. Next Up: Being WANTED. #reslience #resiliencecode #kroslearninggroup #adultshelpingkids

Here's another strategy for kids who "just won't listen": CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT FOR SUCCESS If you’re having trouble keeping your Orchid Kid off of screens, ask yourself: how can you make the screens more difficult (hopefully impossible) to access? If your kids can’t play together for more than a minute without someone getting hurt, how can you separate them so that people get hurt less often? (recognizing that nothing is 100%). If your Orchid Kid chews on toys that are choking hazards, how can you make those toys unavailable? Making changes to the environment is a way of allowing your child to succeed. Maybe they should be able to resist grabbing the iPad when it’s sitting on the couch. But they can’t right now. Why let them fail? Maybe they’re “old enough” to play nice with their sibling, but they just can’t right now. Why let them fail? Maybe they know they’re “not supposed to” put small things in their mouth, but they still do it. Why let them fail? If a simple change to the environment means the difference between success and failure, why not do it? #raisingorchidkids

I personally find videos like that really comforting from a psychological point of view and refreshing as far as the topic of Daily Routine is concerned. Your students of Elementary-Pre-Intermediate level will indulge into the atmosphere of 1950's, learn amazing vocabulary (ideally for girls), and discuss the routine from a different angle. Perfect for revising Present Simple! https://lnkd.in/dVqZRADH #eslmaterials #videoworksheet #presentsimple

The Power of Childhood Play 🌟 "Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain - unless it is done with play, in which case, it takes between 10 and 20 repetitions." - Dr. Karyn Purvis Let's embrace the magic of playtime in our little ones lives! 🧠💫 Through play, they're not just having fun; they're building essential pathways in their brains, fostering creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills. So, let's encourage more play, more laughter, and more exploration. After all, it's not just child's play; it's brain-building brilliance! 🎈🌈 Credit to @pinterest for this image . . . . . . #childhoodplay #braindevelopment #playandlearn #holisticsleepcoaching #conciousparenting #connection #parentsvillage #connectionvillage #village
