I am currently the only person publicly discussing Cambium's (NASDAQ: CMBM) problems. The ePMP 4500c 8x8 configuration showcased in Cambium's webinar is completely counter-productive. Horn antennas are designed to focus the signal and minimize noise from outside the intended coverage area. However, using a single radio with four horns pointed in different directions defeats the purpose and makes the radio susceptible to four times the noise. It also fails to take advantage of the frequency reuse benefits of horn antennas or the fake 'MU-MIMO' radio. Subscribers would have been better served with four ePMP 4500L 2x2 radios, each operating on the optimal frequency for its sector and capable of transmitting and receiving from four access points simultaneously, more than quadrupling the capacity of this setup. In this private webinar, Cambium disclosed that MU-MIMO is not working and that the spectrum analyzer only functions on 2 out of 8 chains, but they failed to explain the implications. Without MU-MIMO, the radio cannot transmit to four subscribers simultaneously on the same channel, as claimed on the product pages, completely negating the product's supposed value in MU-MIMO setups. The lack of a functioning spectrum analyzer on all chains means the radio can't detect and avoid noise in split sectors, further eliminating the benefit of using the 8x8 in split sector setups instead of four 2x2 radios. Cambium needs to fully disclose these issues and their implications on public product pages and datasheets, not just in private webinars and Facebook groups. WISPs shouldn't need to rely on me to understand how to best use Cambium products.
