This is the first in our series of tips about how to make the most of virtual networking events, in the lead-up to our event happening on 16th April. Tip 1. Clear your background. This one probably seems obvious but there’s nothing more distracting than a messy background. If you can’t guarantee a clutter-free space, try using a virtual background so it looks tidy! Want to join us for our event? It's only a tenner! Comment 'event' and we'll send you the link!

Open and Closed 2s & 3s at Networking Events The way people stand at a networking event can tell a lot about how you will be received if you approach them. Some of the groups are "closed", and no matter which direction you approach from, their backs are turned to you. Other groups are "open" and have left an opening from which you can approach them face to face. This is a welcoming configuration and signals that you would be welcome to join them and introduce yourself. Think about how you are standing at your next networking event. https://bit.ly/495KpWN #NetworkingEvents

Do you attend networking events? If so do you measure whether it’s working? Far to many people pay to attend networking groups without measuring its impact. If you don’t have a strategy and set goals to measure against how do you know whether it’s worth your time and money?

This is part of our series of tips about how to make the most of virtual networking events, in the lead-up to our event happening on 16th April. Tip 3. Pitch perfect. Not all networking events will ask you to do a 60 second pitch to the whole event (ours don’t) but it’s still a good idea to be able to succinctly tell people about what you do in 30 seconds or less. For some industries it’s easy (everyone knows what a hairdresser does) but for others, it’s a bit more complex. It’s a good idea to prepare a short, but interesting intro to what you do so you can easily share with others in breakout groups. Want to join us for our event? It's only a tenner! When was the last time you went to an in-person networking event? It can seem daunting, but they are highly valuable activities to engage in when it comes to growing your business, knowledge, and community. Look around for local events, grab a friend, and get registered! Maybe even set a goal for attending so many within a time frame. One a quarter? One a month? #networkingevents #marketingyourbusiness

Chief Community Engagement Officer at Business RadioX® | Helping business leaders across the country get the word out about the important work they are doing to serve their market, their profession and their community.
Today's Business RadioX® #protip: For Your Next Networking Event - You know how much I love networking events, so, you know, I created this business so I wouldn’t have to do a lot of that. And one of the gifts of having a Business RadioX® studio is when I go to a networking event, I don’t have to have an elevator pitch where I’m just talking about my business in that 15-second little chunk. So, what I’ve done is I traded that elevator pitch for what I like to call a value assessment conversation starter.
