Real estate photography has the power to highlight a property’s best features—but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. As agents, we know that a well-lit room and the right angle can make any space look social media-worthy. But what about the things buyers can’t see in those photos? The busy street, the nearby school’s morning traffic, or the neighbor’s unkept yard? That’s why I encourage my clients to always drive by the property before scheduling a showing. It’s our responsibility to give them the full picture—beyond what’s captured in photos. How do you manage client expectations in a world where first impressions often come from a screen? Would love to know! Compass | DRE 01218649 #realestatetips #homebuying #clientadvice #propertyhunting #househunting

We want to make sure we both understand the portrait sitting process. From the initial contact we arrange a planning session where we discuss location of the photo shoot, what to wear so everybody is complimentary in the image, any interests & ideas you would like to incorporate in the session, wall design options and prices of photos. This planning session is a very important part of the photo shoot. BOOK TODAY #SydOwen #OwenStudio #ToowoombaPhotographer

This has become my favorite way to capture exteriors of homes, while complementing the standard wide shots 🫡 Using a focal range of 50mm or even 70mm makes the home to stand out from corner to corner 📸🤩 Does your next listing need photos done?🔥 #charlotterealestate #charlotterealestatephotographer #northcarolinarealestate #realestatephotography #charlottencrealestate #charlotterealtors #cltrealestate #charlotterealestatemedia

I lead the communications and content generation function at a fantastic organisation called The Chartered Institute of Building. Check them out.
The Art of Building competition really shows that photos can speak louder than words. Every year, I’m blown away by the incredible photos people send in. Each one tells its own story about the places we live, the things we build, and the way we experience the world around us. From breathtaking buildings to everyday spots we might not notice, these photos capture everything from beauty to struggle to the emotions tied to places we call home. What I love most is that this competition is open to everyone, no matter where you're from or what you do. You don’t need to be a pro—just grab your phone or camera, snap something that means something to you, and share it. There are cash prizes and one winner even gets picked by public vote. If you’ve got a picture that makes you feel proud or tells a story about the built world, I’d love to see it. The competition runs from 11 October to 25 November, and I’m always excited to see what people create. The Art of Building is all about celebrating the amazing work happening in construction, so why not show the world what you see? Enter and inspire us! www.artofbuilding.org #ciob #construction #art #artofbuilding #ciobartofbuilding #constructionmanagement #photo #photography #photocontest #architecturalphotography #pic #building #contest #competition #prize #photographyprize #photocompetition

Look beyond your profession to innovate ... The first drive-thru window was invented by Jordan Martin in the 1930s. The first recorded use of a bank using a drive-up window teller was the Grand National Bank of St. Louis, Missouri. (According to Wikipedia.) Other businesses looked at the idea and reimagined it for their services, and now the drive-thru is found at restaurants, retail, dry cleaners and more. Casters were on carts, wardrobes and other things, but it wasn't until 1970 that Bernard Sadow thought to put them on a suitcase. Looking beyond what you do, to see what others are doing, is inspirational. That is why I look beyond photography at different types of art, design and architecture. It gives me concepts I can apply to my own work, which helps me improve. So today, I share an artist every photographer should study. Where do you look for inspiration? #inspiration #photography #lookbeyond
