A great panel discussion at Enlit Africa this week. Some of the pertinent points raised: + PPPs are certainly part of the solution to South Africa's water crisis. The minimal number of PPPs in the water space is testiment to the convoluted and expensive process they require. + PPPs don't make sense for all situations. Smaller municipalities can potentially avoid the PPP process under Section 78 of the Municipal Systems Act. + Decentralisation of treatment processes for the C&I sector is core to a holistic solution. And, offers the benefit of relieving pressure on existing municipal infrastructure. + the BOOT (build own operate transfer) model makes absolute sense for medium to large industry. Transferring risk to the supplier and owner of the infrastructure is a sure way to ensure optimisation and efficient resource allocation. It was great to have these discussions with colleagues: Phathutshedzo Mashele Mojabeng Manthata Emmanuel Khomela, Pr. CPM
The Water Track is buzzing with activity! This track seems to be making quite the splash! Learn more about water challenges and potential solutions here at Enlit Africa 2024! It's not too late to get your FREE Visitor Pass! https://lnkd.in/d_SC7YUD

Associate Cabinet T&F | I help you to leverage your Intellectual Property for growth & success | OAPI Legal Representative | International IP Consultant.
International colloquium on the Development of GIs in Africa 🌍 Have you ever cooked with the well-known "Poivre de Penja"? It is one of the first product to benefit from Geographical Indication protection in Subsaharan Africa and It is also the first protected GI of OAPI in EU. It has four colours (white, black, green and red) and a particular smell and taste thanks to its geographic origin. Yesterday African Intellectual property Organisation (OAPI ) has launched the International Colloquium on the Development of the Geographical Indication in Africa (GI) . It was an opportunity to discuss with experts from different parts of the world , to discover some of the OAPI GIs during the exhibition and also discuss with the representatives of those cooperatives on the challenge that they are facing in their daily activities. Yesterday's debates was about the status of GI protection in Africa, the legal framework and governance of GIs. Today we will be focused on the controls and marketing of GIs in Africa, can't wait to participate ☺️. Stay tuned, I will share feedback with you tomorrow! #intellectualproperty #geographicalindication #colloquim
