Waves of IoT LEO satellites lift off France’s Kinéis is starting the launch of a European constellation of LEO satellites for proprietary IoT devices. Meanwhile, LEO-based IoT satellite firm Sateliot, offering connectivity between unmodified IoT devices, is moving into commercial action. This is the fruition of developments that began when the 3GPP’s Rel-17 set the standard for connectivity between unmodified NB-IoT, or Cat-NB, devices from space. French satellite IoT operator, Kinéis is launching a European IoT constellation of 25 nanosatellites using LoRaWan IoT protocol. The first of five deployments is scheduled for mid-June and the final launch is scheduled for early 2025. The satco describes this as the first European constellation dedicated to the IoT. Kinéis’ offering aims to achieve global coverage (including black points) and transmit data in near real time. #LEOsatellites #IoT #connectivity

Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space has partnered with France's Kinéis to introduce IoT connectivity in India. This collaboration includes deploying Kinéis IoT services and launching a Kinéis IoT payload aboard Dhruva Space's P-30 satellite. Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO of Dhruva Space, emphasized the partnership's aim to drive digital transformation across India with innovative IoT solutions. Dhruva Space plans its first Hosted Payload mission later this year, expanding its capabilities in satellite communications. Kinéis, known for its global IoT constellation, aims to connect remote areas and enable real-time data transmission for applications in agriculture, environment monitoring, and more.
