One of the best things I enjoy about the work that I do is the relationships that I build in the process.... Teaching online classes can become monotonous because you get to teach the same thing to a different set of people. My secret to avoiding monotony/boredom is to build relationships with my learners...And I have a unique relationship with each learner. I know how they learn best, what teaching method to use with each one, what jokes to crack, the camaraderie makes the learning time fun for the learners and for me.💃🏻 I can say I have a very good relationship with 95% of my learners and it is so beautiful to watch. I remember a time when I took a full month off work, my Asian students asked if I'll be back and they all waited for me ,(something very rare). Not one student left my class... Thank you Lord for grace.🙏🙏🙏 My favourite thing about teaching online is not just the pay, or comfort but meeting the quality of people I have met. Today I thank all my students, children, adult learners, the parents who pay, all of you. I enjoy teaching you, thank you for being in my class 🥰🥰🥰🥰. By the way, Adult Igbo classes are open. I have another #StanbicUgChampions story, this time about a teacher. Teachers have a category Teach-Innovate because they are pivotal to the success of the program in the school. This season we expanded the category beyond business to include innovative ideas around pedagogy and that is how we met teacher Emmanuel Mugambe. He has tweaked a world wide favourite game and is using it to enhance learning for the students at Sheema Girls School. Many of us love and play scrabble. It has shaped our vocabulary and creates camarederie and that is what teacher Emmanuel tapped into. How the gamified learning works: 1. The students pick a topic 2. They form words about the topic. This process develops critical thinking because you have to make connections betweens items. The students also learn spellings. 3. Scores are tallied and they select the best speller with the highest scores Talk about small changes with big impact and teacher Emmanuel comes to mind.
