There is an achievement gap that African-American students, particularly young Black boys, have to face from very early on. Unequal opportunities prevent low-income families from supporting their children and guiding their steps toward higher education. ScholarPrep Nation addresses the inequities by lending a helping hand. Systemic racism is an ongoing issue that continuously affects the educational progress of Black students. Additionally, the lack of family engagement and teaching strategies prevents college success from ever happening. A study showed that the educational attainment of Black families is 34.8% high school. First-gen college students will need some solid guidance. In today’s article, we’re going to bring families and educators together. We attempt to bridge the gap between home and school as efficiently as possible. Read on and let’s get this family affair started! Guiding African-American Students and Their Families to College A paradigm shift needs to take place. Let’s take the example of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, one of the most selective universities in California. Research shows that Black students only made up 1.6% of the total freshman applicants. Why does this happen? Because during high school, African-American students do not receive the guidance they require. High-poverty schools struggle with less qualified teachers and a lack of funding are to blame. Also, late college preparation is an equally negative factor. Lastly, public school principals fail to provide culturally affirming support to Black students. In order for Black students to pursue higher education, they need the right resources, tools, and guidance. High school counselors, school principals, and educators must join forces and try their best to engage both African-American families and their kids. I second inviting you (readers, students, teachers, change agents, and community leaders) into this offering. Reflection: Our societal frameworks, facilitate our quality of life and stand as parallel reflections of one another (systems inside systems). The articles discussed opening about the co-conspired (those milking the system) not for greater good, but the "butter me up" kind of good which benefits population that are not in sphere of general population of DEI goers. This remind us that with Restorative Justice that we can not just accept the inherent flaws in its design, leading to the marginalization and questioning of votes and educational rights, but that RJ is a umbrella in which is policies, programs and people co-existing to find commonalities in system to optimize itself. The Failed Redemption Era,' certainly confront a historical juncture where prevailing political and socio-cultural dynamics stagnate progress, shackled by an unwillingness to yield or rectify unjust protocols. System change is demanded and implied at all times nowadays and our vote can't just be counted in the system. It demands and implies RJ practices. Well served D.W. 💛 💛 💛

Announced by Education Minister Stephen Lecce, this initiative ensures students understand the significant contributions and sacrifices of Black Canadians throughout history. A recently released Prosperity Now report sheds light on how Child Savings Account (CSA) programs are making strides in supporting Black and Latine students with postsecondary access and college completion—and features Michigan CSA Network Member, Lansing SAVE! Their research findings revealed CSA programs may be an effective college access and attainment strategy for consideration, as well as ideas for specifically supporting Black & Latine students to and through college. At CEDAM, economic inclusion is at the core of our mission. We're thrilled to see CSA programs emerge across the country, combining long-term savings and investment accounts with other supports to increase postsecondary pathway accessibility and achievement, especially for students from low-income backgrounds.
