I had the opportunity to listen to Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, and it was inspiring. The mark of a great leader is to build a team that truly understands and executes their vision. That’s precisely what Paul is doing, carrying forward Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s ambitious vision of building the world’s largest airport in South Dubai. This project, backed by a massive $37 billion investment, aims to host over 260 million passengers annually. My second year in the UAE 🇦🇪 Sharing a reflection on the incredible journey of 2024. It’s been a year full of challenges, opportunities, and significant milestones as we expanded the academy to Abu Dhabi. Expanding our academy to Abu Dhabi came with challenges, but it also brought immense opportunities to grow, learn and lead. (i need to share about this more in details in another post). 🎯 Our Achievements: ✅ 6,500+ Coaching Hours: Delivered by a passionate and dedicated team. ✅ 9,500+ Active Players Weekly: Engaging in dynamic social padel groups and building an ever-growing community. ✅ Expanding to 2 Locations: Bringing padel closer to more enthusiasts across the UAE. ✅Team Growth: Welcomed 4 new reception members, growing to a team of 7 and promoted 2 to reception managers. Added 5 new coaches, building a robust team of 8 and promoted 2 to head coaches. A key factor in achieving this growth has been the importance of building a strong team and working closely with them. Through weekly meetings we’ve consistently explored ways to improve our services listened to client feedback and implemented changes that drive growth more efficiently. 2024 has taught us the power of teamwork, adaptability, and listening to our community. This is more than an airport; it’s a lesson in AMBITION, PLANNING and STRATEGIC FORESIGHT. 🧭 🥇 Recently awarded the world's best airport by Skytrax for 2024, it's not just about size —though it's now larger than JFK— or capacity, managing 5 planes every 3 minutes. 🎯 It’s about a VISION communicated since 2014 and realised, with a 46M passenger turnaround (+64% since '14), still growing despite the after-pandemic and the comparative with '22 FIFA Cup, and an impressive $1 billion in retail sales last year alone by Qatar Duty Free. It is about the obsession to be the at the forefront.
