Saturday, May 18, 2024 Slow and steady Perhaps you’ve entertained the fantasy of rushing in on a white horse and saving the world. But it doesn’t work that way. Much of what improves life comes out of boring and tedious work. The good things in life don’t require saving so much as they require ongoing maintenance, support, and appreciation. Glamour and cleverness don’t matter nearly so much as commitment and persistence. It’s important to do what must be done rather than doing merely what appears fun and exciting. In the ordinary hours and ordinary efforts, extraordinary achievements are built. The work that no one gets excited about will end up being the work everyone benefits from. It’s thrilling to drive a sports car down the highway at 70 miles per hour. Yet for that to happen, someone must build the highway, a few feet at a time. Enjoy the exciting experiences when you can. But don’t dismiss all the value and fulfillment you can create with ordinary, slow and steady work. — Ralph Marston

I am now an Academic Advisor. I enjoy helping communities and its people improve their lives. Though, I am passionate about the real estate market and architecture. Currently, training to be an Appraiser trainee.
Another reminder that humans are experiencing the effects of their own pollution and that of big corporations and companies who are ignoring the huge problem until it’s too late and money is worthless because the planet’s climate is on a faster decline. Currently, I noticed that the earth's climate temperature is quickly on the rise. The two most valuable currencies are water and food at that point. Pollution from many products and manufacturing has increased cancers and other ailments in humans and animals over the last 33 years. Now, we no longer have a four-season world climate, we have a 2 1/2 season climate. I recall when there was actually an autumn season in the early 2000s. The last true fall season I experienced in Houston was three years ago which occurs every few years until it's entirely non-existent.

How bad was the snow storm in California over last few days? Pretty bad in Sierra Nevada mountains. A powerful blizzard dumped up to 10 feet of snow in parts of California and the Sierra Nevada mountains on Sunday, with white out conditions shutting down major highways and ski resorts. Here is a video of Donner Pass on Saturday March 3, 2024. Donner Pass is a 7,056-foot-high (2,152 meters) mountain pass in the northern Sierra Nevada, above Donner Lake and Donner Memorial State Park about 9 miles west of Truckee, California. Like the Sierra Nevada themselves, the pass has a steep approach from the east and a gradual approach from the west. Video: CocoReimagined

Senior Coach/Exercise and Performance Scientist- High Performance Tennis Masters by Research Candidate - Volleyball Australia/University of South Australia
This week I got back from Traralgon J300 helping out one of Australia’s top junior players. The standard was unbelievable, as expected. Upon reflection there are two main take aways: 1. To continue to compete with the best players in the world we as performance/ strength and conditioning coaches need to emphasise building physical qualities from a younger age. This means inclusion of a larger variety of sports when young as well as the more formalised s+c. The game is too physical and too demanding to ignore this until teens. 2. Should we be promoting luxuries such as wildcards so frequently? I heard a lot of talk from players around who’s competing for wildcard spots. While open for discussion, does this mentality of “earning” a wildcard let us rest on our laurels? Those from non Grand-Slam countries weren’t afforded such benefits and the standard they are consistently producing is world class. Rather than 6-8 being the norm, would a cap of 2 demand more competition?
