Heard this in my first meeting of the day! “Wise man learns from his mistakes, Wiser man learns from the mistakes of others, The one who has all of the answers and who knows everything, is the fool in the room. “ One of the many reasons I love mentoring the next generation of investors and entrepreneurs because if they take the opportunity to learn from the silly things I’ve done they will be better for it. One of my peers in my role before joining Allied Federal Solutions LLC always used a term from the Bible of “Seek Wise Counsel” which I’m getting better at but always have room to grow. In this new role I’m getting to learn from some brilliant corporate officers on how to build culture, build the right team, and how to serve your team. Onward and upward.

Don’t have your team ruckin’ - buckin’ and ready to fight. That only worked for Crime Mob. Instead, help them to see the tension you’re holding as the leader between the values of the organization today… And the vision you have for the organization tomorrow. As long as the team has access to the right data, then solid hires will for sure bring fresh perspectives to the future of the business. Healthier discussion. Better planning. Brighter future.

These folks right here! These are real MVPs when it comes to the operations you see out in the park. They are the engine that keeps the wheels of Ride Operations turning. You see all those ride operators out there staffing rides, these guys made sure they were there for you. You see those rides testing, these guys made sure every single one of them are safe for you. You see all those associates brooms in hand cleaning, these guys brought that broom to them. When I tell you the role of these guys right here is important, I mean we 100000% could not do it without them. And it’s truly a pleasure to do so with people who are so passionate about the industry and working with people. When it comes to writing nominations for our Values awards, sometimes the words can be hard to find to summarize a great contribution to the team in a few short sentences. But let me tell you, when it comes to the definition and meaning of what our Cornerstones and Core Values are, these folks right here would be the picture in the dictionary. Please join me in celebrating them for receiving their Values awards for all the hard work they do day in and day out.

Thought for the week 💭 “All minds need to see the whole task to contribute sufficiently, poor security may cost us the race, inefficiency will”. I absolutely love this scene from Oppenheimer and really enjoy how much it applies to business. Having a team who understands what role each individual plays in achieving the overall goal for me is one of the most crucial elements of successful teams. It’s so easy to only focus on your job and shift blame if something goes wrong, however, understanding the wider result of your input can provide the opportunity to stop mistakes happening elsewhere based on your own conclusions. Thought for the week - Don’t just show someone how to do a job, show them what that job contributes to the overall success of the team.
