⭐️ TIP TUESDAY ⭐️ Stop overlooking qualified candidates who don't have a college degree. It boggles my mind when hiring managers say "it doesn't matter what their degree is in, but they do need one for this position." My brother started with a company while he was still in high school and worked for them almost 20 years until they closed their doors. A few months after, he started at his current job that he has been with for over 5 years now. He never went to college because it did not interest him, and he already had a job with a great organization. College isn't for everyone, nor is it for every position. #tiptuesday #resume #interview #application #staffing #recruiting #nowhiring #joboffer

Ways to stand out as a great company to work for in your hiring process: 1.) Do what you say you're going to do when you're going to do it. 2.) Do what you say you're going to do when you're going to do it. That's it? Ok that's not all, but that is a big deal. "We'll get back to you by the end of the week".... crickets "Thanks for your time today. I'll send you an email later tonight with next steps.".... no email "We'll be getting you an offer letter by Friday."....nothing A candidate will wonder, "If they don't follow their word here with these simple things, how can I trust that they will do what they say they will do on important matters?" Honest answer? They probably won't.

Summer applications = a hidden goldmine. Whoever spread the rumor that summer's a bad time to job hunt clearly didn’t have the facts straight. Here’s the truth: Companies don’t halt their goals because it’s sunny outside. They’re always on the lookout for top talent, even if some staff are on vacation. And while many assume hiring slows down and take a break, you can actually stand out more easily in a smaller pool of candidates. Even summer evens can lead to casual conversations that could open doors. Always be ready with your elevator pitch. With some employees on vacation, there might be a tad more flexibility in scheduling interviews. And being proactive during summer can position you ahead of the autumn hiring rush. Remember, opportunities don’t wait for seasons. Neither should you.

Team… Good read today compliments of our own Kelly Pritt . Thanks Kelly! While summer is often viewed as a boom time to seek your next success, it often has its challenges as well. Vacation, PTO, summer holidays, etc..... This read does a great job of summarizing the summer hiring slump and why you may see a drop off in interviews as it gets warmer out. If you are noting a slow down, take advantage of this time....network, refine your resume and interview skills, and lean into the down time to be a stronger candidate when the tide changes. As a recruiter, I see firsthand the determination and resilience it takes to pursue new opportunities, especially when faced with lengthy hiring processes. I certainly understand it can be exhausting and sometimes disheartening. But here's a little nudge of encouragement: Keep going. Don't hesitate to send that email to a recruiter or fellow professionals who may refer you to someone who is hiring, apply for that role you've been eyeing, or reach out for a chat. Your skills, experience, and unique perspective are invaluable, and the perfect fit is out there waiting for you. Remember, every application, every interview, and every moment spent on refining your CV brings you one step closer to that offer letter you've been dreaming of. Proven experience in digital marketing and search engine optimization | Digital Advertising | SEO | Seeking my next position.
Last week I finished my 5th interview with a company, only to learn that they opted to hire no one at all (over ~500 applicants) and put the job out again for applications. After a summer applying for jobs, I'm frequently seeing the same jobs posted and reposted every 6 weeks (some of them on their 3rd try despite thousands of qualified applicants). Are these "Ghost Jobs"? Yes, I think that's likely - there's no real intent to hire. This is just the way it is in 2024 I guess. We are all just spinning our wheels... Thanks for the interview practice. #hiring #jobs #humanresources #interview
