🔸Nudging Inclusion Into Tradition Rich Environments🔸 Where I live, Christmas traditions DOMINATE school events during December. Most elementary schools dedicate a day just for Christmas decorations, and parents are encouraged to take part in the younger classes' activities. Arts and crafts ain't my thing, but I put in an effort. ⛄ 🧦 This cozy atmosphere (complete with snowy weather) is what adds to Denmark's fairy tale image. Yet there are other traditional settings.  ☕ ❄ 🕯So on my candles (yes, that's what they are supposed to be) I shared various holiday greetings that we can use. Some are Danish greetings and others are in English. My son approved of my creations. It was a wonderful watching him explain these holidays to his classmates. For some of the kids & adults, it was their first time hearing about these other holidays. As a result, they increased their awareness & vocabulary about different experiences. 🔸Proud to see my my son using Acts Of Inclusion - the everyday gestures & behaviors you can do to invite and welcome others (and their perspectives) into your environment. “Celebrate Holi with Consent” As we anxiously await Holi's coming, we should consider the importance of consent in our festivities. Holi is a celebration that is primarily about happiness and community, and it is well-known for its flamboyant color displays and friendship. But despite all the enthusiasm, it's important to understand and respect consent laws. To put it simply, consent is the recognition of personal autonomy and respect for boundaries. It refers to getting permission before donning color or engaging in fun activities during Holi. Even while the event promotes spontaneity and unrestrained enjoyment, it's crucial to make sure that everyone is safe and comfortable while having fun. Being doused in color or doused with water may be a fun aspect of the celebration for some people. But it's important to realize that not everyone is as enthusiastic as you are. Some people might not wish to take part in specific Holi activities for cultural or personal reasons. As a result, it becomes crucial to treat people with empathy and respect for their decisions. Everyone's experience of Holi is enhanced when there is a culture of mutual respect and understanding, which is fostered by consent. Before partaking in any playful activity, we obtain agreement to show that we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and joyful atmosphere for everyone. Therefore, let's keep consent in mind as we get ready to celebrate Holi and its vivid colors. For those who celebrate…Happy Kwanzaa!!! ❤️🖤💚 The name comes from the Swahili phrase “matunda ya kwanza,” which means “first fruits.” The holiday is defined by Nguzo Saba, or the seven principles. Each day of the festival is dedicated to a specific principle, marked by lighting a new candle on the kinara, a seven-branched candelabra. Umoja Umoja means unity in Swahili - “To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.” Kujichagulia Or self-determination. This principle refers to defining, naming, creating and speaking for oneself. Ujima Translated as “collective work and responsibility,” ujima refers to uplifting your community. Ujamaa Cooperative economics. Similar to ujima, this principle refers to uplifting your community economically. Nia Nia means purpose. Kuumba Meaning “creativity” Imani The final principle translates to “faith.” as faith in community
