Behind the Work: How Blue Moon Is Making Life – and Its Advertising – Brighter 🍺 ☀ Back in April, partners Blue Moon and adam&eveDDB NYC announced the launch of their latest brand campaign, building upon the brand's 'Made Brighter' platform, originally launched in 2022. The latest campaign demonstrates that the largest craft brand in the country can always awaken the brightness within everyday, ordinary moments. Molson Coors Beverage Company’s Vice President of Marketing, Above Premium Beer, Courtney Benedict, and adam&eveNYC's Managing Director James Rowe sat down with LBBonline - Little Black Book's Addison Capper regarding the revamped work. The three of them discuss the meaning of 'brighter,' how the platform plans to meaningfully connect with its loyal consumers, and why the inspiration aligns with the aspirations of both partners. In terms of the thoughtfulness behind the work, James Rowe, said: "For Blue Moon, it meant really working hard to remind drinkers of our uniqueness, our bright-tasting beer with an aroma that’s unlike any other, and our iconic garnish that stands out in bars. The strategy aimed to put Blue Moon in a category of one, to stand apart from traditional premium beers, and to prevent the brand being dragged into the clutter of the wider craft category." A pop of happiness in every bottle 💫 Picture this: a scorching summer day, a chilled bottle shimmering with droplets, and that delightful fizz as you crack open a can. With the first sip, you're greeted by a burst of taste - a blend of sweet and tangy touch that dances on your tongue. This is Coca-Cola, a sip that whisks you away to a world of refreshment in a flash 😁 But did you know that The Coca-Cola Company was actually discovered by a #pharmacist!! The brand name has an interesting origin and history. #Pemberton developed a syrup made from coca leaves and kola nuts, which he initially called "Pemberton's French Wine Coca" because of its wine-like flavor. In 1886, Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, suggested the name "Coca-Cola," combining two key ingredients: #coca leaves and kola nuts. And "cola" referred to the flavor. Robinson also penned the iconic script logo that is still used today. After this, there was no turning back for this drink. Coca-Cola’s popularity grew rapidly, and it was soon sold in bottles and distributed across the globe. In 1892, Coca-Cola was incorporated as a company, and its iconic contour bottle was patented in 1915. Over the years, the formula for Coca-Cola evolved. Have you ever stumbled across The Coca-Cola Company’s Signature Mixers? Apparently five London bartenders did a bunch of experimentation before landing on 4 flavors: Spicy, Smoky, Herbal, Woody. I’m not usually a Big Soda guy but when I came across these last year I had to send a photo to Meredith Hudson-Redfield and the rest of the team. I knew they’d have comments. ~Tax Strip~ The lack of consistent adherence to the bottle could just be sloppy. In reality, especially knowing Coke, this might be part of the plan….to create a “high-end city bar + roadside vendor vibe”, an immersive experience with organic textures and natural flaws. Some might call this the “Disney Effect”. ~Barcodes~ If you’ve worked on the brand side in cannabis you know how frustrating it can be to see a barcode label haphazardly slapped over your core brand elements. It may not always be workable or impactful depending on a retailer or distributor’s inventory management system but when possible, it's worth it to try and integrate barcodes directly into labels to help avoid this.
