I recommend the reading of the excellent paper "The Impact of Digital Transformation on Society", published by Springer. In this paper, the authors have created a model that makes the various steps of digital penetration - #Digitization (equipment), #Digitalization (process), and #DigitalTransformation (organization) - easy to understand and differentiate. The model also reveals the next step to come (ie #DigitalTransfiguration (ecosystem)).
