One of our more "entertaining" projects! (Couldn't resist that one.) The Hollywood Theater has been through quite the transformation, and it wouldn't have been possible without historic tax credits. If you can't make it to the conference, reach out and we can talk HTCs for your project. They're back and we can help you apply them to your project.

If you will be attending the Wisconsin SHPO Historic Tax Credit Workshop in Madison, WI on March 14, be sure to attend Quentin's presentation on Minneapolis's Hollywood Theater (start time at 12:45.)
Quentin will talk about the overall building reuse process, our role on this project, the existing conditions, and the key design challenges to satisfy historic tax credit practices. He'll also present the completed project - the before/after transformation is incredible!

The Founding Fathers were wise, yet imperfect men who framed a great nation with a great Constitution – but it was not a perfect Constitution. They recognized that there would come a day when time or circumstances would require amendments, some of which could only be achieved through the state-led convention process. Having lain dormant since America’s founding, it is time for us to breathe life into this important constitutional safety valve by demonstrating the interstate convention process known so well to the Founders.
In early August 2023, commissioners from across the entire country, representing 49 states, met in Colonial Williamsburg. They worked diligently to craft, discuss, and vote on proposed amendments on three essential topics: term limits, fiscal restraints, and limitations on the scope, power, and jurisdiction of the federal government. It’s not quite the economic disarray that we were all led to believe is it, used by the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves to justify her decisions so far.
As Daniel Hannah in The Telegraph says:
“If #Brexit had been the disaster The Labour Party believes, we would not be outgrowing the #eurozone. And if the Tories really had turned Britain 🇬🇧 into some kind of low-tax Dickensian sweatshop, we would not have the highest #tax levels since the aftermath of WW II.
Our real problem is that, instead of allowing spending to fall back to where it was when the lockdown began, we have accepted a much larger #state, and have pushed up taxes and #borrowing commensurately.
According to the The TaxPayers' Alliance, national #debt now stands at £2.5 trillion, and is rising by £382 million a day”.
Some will point to the part Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng played.
But the #budget they proposed was never implemented. The fact that the Bank of England had to step in was down to the way that they, together with the Financial Conduct Authority and The Pensions Regulator had allowed many a #trustee and company #director to #invest without doing the true due diligence and what if scenario which they so demand of #regulated#investment firms.
We have seen the real intent of this Government which is to reward its Union Paymasters without anything demanded in #return at a time when unlike, in the private sector, where #productivity is well ahead of where it was pre-pandemic, it is still down by 7 per cent among working-from-home state employees.
But where is the Office for Budget Responsibility assessment of the impact of all the spending being planned?
They say there is a blackhole of £19bn that has been left to them. That figure is quoted and used as the reason why they are taking money off pensioners when 2 million of them can’t afford it.
But, it does beg a question when it happens to be the same figure that HM Treasury officials used that figure as being needed to plug a hole that would appear as a result of the instant #recession that would result from Brexit, which didn’t materialise.
Throwing #money at a #problem isn’t a #solution. The answer isn’t to tax either.
Just cut the waste!
Happy Sunday everyone!

Facts:
The Vietnam War spanned over 19 years and it is claimed 19 is the average age of United States soldiers killed in the conflict.
19 is the atomic number of potassium.
#COVID-19 is the shortened name of Coronavirus disease 2019, the cause of the global #pandemic that began in 2019.
19 is the number of angels guarding Hell ("Hellfire") ("Saqar") according to the Qur'an: "Over it are nineteen" after which the Qur'an describes this number as being "a trial for those who disbelieve", a sign for people of the scripture to be "convinced" and that believers "will increase in faith" due to it.

The new SAVE plan roll out has been paused for now as 2 judges from Kansas and Missouri rule on the plan. However, there are no specifics out as of yet. You can still enroll in the plan. It is still not known how these rulings will alter the SAVE plan yet. More to come.
