If the doctor told you that you were gonna die today, what would be your biggest regret? What is left undone? What did you not get to? What do you need to say and to whom? Seriously. Think about it. Because once you identify that biggest regret, you can begin to order your 4th Quarter with more direction and purpose. Here are 5 of the top regrets hospice nurses hear consistently: - I wish I'd had the courage to just be myself. - I wish I had spent more time with the people I love. - I wish I had taken more risks. - I wish I had taken better care of myself. - I wish I had discovered my purpose earlier. What about you? What would be your biggest regret? Take a step now to begin to address that. Now is your time. #NoRegrets #4thQuarter #FourthQuarter

Tomorrow is the 4th of July! At our long-term care facilities, we will take any excuse to celebrate with our staff and residents, especially in these warmer months. Here are some fun ideas nursing homes can use to enjoy this holiday: 1.Host a firework screening! Find some of the BEST firework videos on YouTube and put on a show for your residents! (here’s one of our favorites: https://lnkd.in/erU3qAwr) 2.Host a cook-out. If you can’t grill at your facility, consider cooking up some hot-dogs and a fruit salad in the kitchen so staff and residents can enjoy the feel-good aspect that comes with this holiday. 3.Take a moment to address and thank the veterans at your facility, this holiday can serve as a reminder of our gratitude toward their service. Consider creating thank you cards for those that served. Remember that living in a nursing home can be fun and joyous for everyone! If you have any creative ideas for this holiday, leave a comment below! #4thofjuly #celebrate #longtermcare #nursinghomecelebration

“They allowed us to do all we could to look after our little girl ourselves at home but were always nearby for additional support and stepped in when it became time for us to just be there with her in her final hours.” When it comes to providing end of life care, being able to give a family a choice about where they receive it is a priority. Whether at home, in hospice, or hospital, this choice can only be possible when organisational boundaries can be crossed. This is how Team Starfish evolved - a working partnership between Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, University Hospital Dorset (UHD) Children’s NHS Nurses, (UHD) Paediatricians and Gully’s Place, offering families crucial choices in end-of-life care for their children. Together, we collaborate to provide 24/7, multi-disciplinary support, prioritizing families’ comfort and needs. When pre-term babies are discharged from Stollery NICUs, they can still face challenges with feeding, weight gain and development, and are at a higher risk for re-admission to the Hospital. The Stollery Neonatal Home Support Team (NHST) was funded by the Foundation in 2019 as a pilot project when gaps in care were discovered for these pre-term infants after discharge. Over the past five years, the NHST program has grown to a team of five registered nurses serving patients seven days a week in the Edmonton area and beyond through in-person and virtual care to support caregivers, lower re-admission rates and allow for babies to be sent home with their families sooner than previously possible. One of the greatest fears among older adults is the loss independence that leads to the nursing home. As Dr. Robert Mirsky, Nymbl's CMO, highlights in our recent RISE webinar, the key to avoiding this fate lies in early intervention. “Injurious falls, loss of mobility, and stability are major precursors to a loss of independence," says Dr. Robert Mirsky "But by intervening early, we can significantly enhance the quality of life for older adults—allowing them to stay in their homes and communities, where they belong." At Nymbl, we believe in empowering older adults to live life on their terms, and our total population falls solution is a critical part of that mission. Let’s work together to ensure all older adults can enjoy their later years in the comfort of their own homes. Nursing homes, entrusted with the care of our elderly loved ones, often fall short of their promises, leading to neglect, mistreatment, and tragically, wrongful death. When a loved one dies under suspicious circumstances in a nursing home, seeking justice becomes imperative. As you navigate this difficult time, understanding the process, your rights, and the steps to take is crucial. Here, we provide comprehensive guidance on nursing home wrongful death cases in Maryland. #ElderAbuse #NursingHomeNegligence #WrongfulDeath #MarylandLaw #JusticeForSeniors
