Has Tyler Brûlé overlooked the current situation in Turkey? From the tragic killings of street dogs and cats every day — creatures that have always been an integral part of Turkish society — to other horrifying events, the reality here seems far removed from any notion of “quality of life.” Add to this the recent restrictions on personal freedoms, such as the ban on importing books or goods above 30 euros, including items from Monocle itself.
