We read this morning of the sudden closure of Flambards Theme Park in Cornwall. There is nothing to celebrate in the loss of a UK attraction and with it the immediate jobs and community impact it will have. What we noted was they cited maintenance costs and sourcing of parts for ageing equipment as a contributing factor. Disappointing to read! Fletcher Moorland is actively working with many major UK attractions on their rides, attractions and transportation systems. This includes servicing and upgrading equipment that is 40+ years old. At Fletcher Moorland we specialise in the repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, and we’re here to support UK theme parks and attractions with all their ride and equipment needs. Our services are designed to keep your attractions running smoothly and safely, so you can focus on providing a great experience for your visitors. We understand how crucial it is for rides to operate consistently without unexpected downtime. That’s why we offer both reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure your equipment is always in top condition. Our preventative maintenance programmes are especially valuable, as they help to catch issues before they become bigger problems, saving you from expensive emergency repairs and extending the life of your rides. One of the key ways we can help your theme park is by upgrading legacy drives and controls. We know that many rides rely on older systems, and finding replacement parts for these can be challenging. Our team can retrofit or modernise these systems with up-to-date controls, ensuring your rides perform better and are more reliable. Upgrades can also help improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs. What’s more, we offer a 24/7 service (Open 365 days a year), so if any of your rides break down, we can respond quickly to get them up and running again with minimal disruption. With our technical expertise, quick response times, and commitment to quality, we’re ready to be your reliable partner in keeping your rides and attractions in top shape all year round. If you’re looking for a engineering maintenance partner who is as invested in keeping your equipment running as you are then Fletcher Moorland could be the answer. For all those impacted by this closure we wish you swift re-employment. 📨 hello@fletchermoorland.co.uk 📞 01782 411021 *Pictured is Jimmy working on a BBC Motor including carrying out a Baker Test. #ThemePark #Attractions #RideMaintenance #MaintenanceEngineering #Engineering #ElectricalEngineering #MechanicalEngineering #AssetManagement

I got to play tourist in Galveston after the Zero/Six Consulting, LLC holiday party and was fortunate to see the new Carnival Cruise Line Jubilee ship in port. It got me thinking about how building enclosure principles translate to the High Seas. As building enclosure consultants, we focus on insulation, moisture management, and energy efficiency to ensure comfort and durability in static, land-based structures. But what happens when your “building” is a 20 deck 1,130-foot LNG-powered cruise ship? Here, traditional enclosure principles are tested at a whole different level. Corrosive saltwater, relentless winds, and dynamic motion demand advanced materials, strategic ventilation, and rigorous waterproofing. The same fundamentals that guide high-performance facades on shore—optimized thermal barriers, controlled ventilation, and robust weatherproofing—must be refined for a constantly moving environment. From navigating city skylines to charting open oceans, the principles of well-designed enclosures transcend boundaries.

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 is one step closer, with a $322 million contract awarded to deliver the first 1.3-kilometre section of the project, including the construction of a 320-metre bridge over the Parramatta River. Design and early works for the project will begin later this year, with major bridge construction to begin in 2025. Surrounding public spaces, including Archer Park, will also be upgraded as part of the project.
