Across the globe, a remorseless pressure to produce food on an ever-larger, impersonal scale threatens the culture of food. For this reason I am an advocate of artisan food production. It represents the ancient tapestry of rural life: the dedicated animal husbandry, the love of the landscape, the knowledge and wisdom learned from parents and grandparents, and the intimate understanding of local #artisanfoodproduction #intensiveagriculture #local #organicfarming

“Carbon Capture and Storage has captured... FUCK all” Why it’s here to save big oil. NOT the climate: It’s not often I laugh by myself. But it happened 3-4 times during this video The “fuck all” got me! TWICE. Treat yourself with a good laugh before the weekend. Otherwise, here are the highlights: → Big Oil lobbying for subsidies to cover CCS costs. → Projected capacity (year 2000) was 4900Mt CO2/year → In 2020 the capacity was 10Mt CO2/year → Look up ‘Enhanced oil recovery’. CCS to extract hard-to-get oil. Talk about being fooled. I feel I’ll be covering CCS in the coming weeks. Stay tuned. 👋 I share info about sustainability beyond doing 'no harm'. Concrete, the world’s most abundant man-made substance, ranks second to coal as the world’s dirtiest industrial material. Now, a company in Halifax, Canada, is working to make concrete plants carbon neutral, using captured CO2 to improve their product. By injecting CO2into concrete during production, CarbonCure sequesters stores that would otherwise pollute the atmosphere. #CarbonNeutral #CO2 #Concrete #EnergyConsumption
