It's disheartening to see the frequent challenges faced by disabled or potentially disabled patients, whether their conditions are medical or surgical. Often, there seems to be a delayed and insufficient investment in diagnosis, as well as a reduced effort in intervention therapies, be they surgical or otherwise. This might stem from a mindset that such investments are not worthwhile. We must strive to shift this perspective among our colleagues who only occasionally handle these medical cases. Advocating for enhanced care in these situations can be one of the most rewarding practices in our field. It is a safe, simple and low-cost therapy that helps improve medical care before the patient reaches the emergency service of a hospital. #IRBLleida

Award for the Best Scientific Article published in 2023!!!! The Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy - one of the most prestigious journals in the field of geriatric physical therapy - of the Academy of the American Physical Therapy Association, has awarded Fermin Garciia Gollarte, Sacramento Pinazo-Hernanids and Vicent Benavent with the prize for the Best Scientific Article published in the year 2023, where the results and benefits of the Otago method within the BallePower project are shown. The research report on the Otago method in frail older adults received the highest score out of 27 international studies submitted. The BallePower project is a supervised multicomponent group exercise intervention with frail residents - with or without oral nutritional supplementation - on functional performance in institutionalised older adults in nursing homes. This six-month personalised programme combines the excellence of the best rehabilitative care and adequate nutritional intake with the aim of meeting residents' wishes and life aspirations. Under this premise, the supervised multicomponent group exercise programme (OEP) was developed in 3 non-consecutive sessions per week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) carried out in each Ballesol centre together with the residents enrolled for the study. Thus, a total of 72 sessions were carried out during an intervention period of 24 weeks (6 months), with 6 weeks devoted to each of the 4 levels that make up the programme #Ballepower #physicaltherapy #exercice
