This is why we love giving our Klasik Fit Coaches so much freedom ⤵️ When our Klasik Fit Coach arrived at her session yesterday, she quickly realized that her client wasn’t in the mental or physical state to attempt the typical caliber of workout they do together. Instead of just getting to it and pushing her client through the pain, she asked a simple question: Are you okay today? The response led to 30 minutes of them sitting on the floor, gently stretching along the way, talking about the client's current life circumstances and adapting a new game plan to move forward with for the coming weeks. Her client let her know that she felt better having a plan but, maybe she should just stop for the day, that maybe she just wasn’t ready for the normal workout. The Klasik Fit trainer had already seen the bikes in the garage as she came in and knew that there was a trail her client really liked down the road. So, instead of leaving or pushing her client to her breaking point in a workout, she asked: How would you like to go for a bike ride? Not only did they leave the session with a new plan, but with sunshine and laughter brought by movement that made the client feel her best on a day where she really needed it. Our job as personal trainers is to encourage consistent movement through life’s obstacles for sustainable change, and having the freedom to do so in unique ways for unique people is the best way to do so. If you’re looking to change lives or have your life changed, start working with Klasik Fit today 💙

"The Most Controversial Personal Trainer on the Internet" | Knows nothing about fitness | Looks like he's never been to a gym in his life | Has the worst opinions ever
You may be surprised to learn that I have no problem with powerlifting or (most) powerlifters. Unlike bodybuilding, it is a sport. Also unlike bodybuilding, those who partake of it are, on the whole, well-adjusted people. However. Something I have never jibed with are the methodologies they favour for getting strong. Here is a grossly oversimplified example: Let’s pretend you want to increase your bench press by 5kg from 95kg to 100kg. A typical powerlifting programme will have you calculate all of your training weights based off of this new personal best. The idea being that each workout within the programme builds upon the last until you hit (or, potentially, exceed) your 100kg target at some point in the final week. All fine and dandy. A very effective way of doing things, in fact – with one almighty catch: There’s very little room for error. So. If you get sick or the kids have been keeping you up at night or you’re under the cosh at work or one of the infinite number of challenges that conspire to undermine your training befalls you, you will have a Very Difficult Time hitting your lifts as you move through the programme. And if you don’t hit your lifts? You don’t get your PB – much of the time. I should know, because I tried (and failed) to implement these methodologies over and over again while I was working on the ambulances. Due to the way the shifts messed with my energy levels, I found I’d crash and burn after a few weeks – no matter how conservatively I set my weight target. Indeed, the only way I could hit the target was if I programmed in for my current personal best (or slightly lighter), which defeated the point of doing the programme (setting a new personal best). You could argue, perhaps rightly, that this is very much a “me” problem. Yet bountiful experience has shown me that most “normal” guys whose lives don’t revolve around training and eating also struggle to make it through these programmes. There’s just too much busywork with bookkeeping, not to mention the struggles I’ve just described. Enter the second of two programmes you will find in my free report: "How to Build Muscle and Strength -- The Natural Way". It is a sensible and unobtrusive way for those who cannot devote their every waking moment to the pursuit of fitness to become the strongest man in the room. Here is something you don’t hear often about strength. But it is pretty well understood in the strength and professional athletes’ community. Strength is a skill, and it should be trained as such. If you want to build strength, you need to practice it through mindful repetition. Always keep proper form, and avoid training to failure. Your goal is to teach your brain, nervous system, and body to perform a movement correctly. Then gradually add weight as you progress, and never try to skip steps. It’s a bit like learning a piano piece slowly before you increase the tempo and eventually play it smoothly. Training strength is about doing heavy but “pretty” reps, not about exhausting yourself. ~~~ Follow me Nicolas Sart to learn everything about home gyms and training. Having an in-person personal trainer doesn’t guarantee weight loss! While a PT can help you with exercises on the gym floor, that’s only a fraction of the equation. Before Kalyani joined RNT, she had a personal trainer. She was shown how to complete exercises, but the reality was that she needed a nutrition and lifestyle strategy to stick to and someone to guide her through the process. That’s when she actually began to see results. If you’re serious about your weight loss, you need someone to keep you accountable with a holistic approach Are you ready to get into the best shape of your life? DM us ‘TRANSFORM’ to find out more.

Career Coach for Moms in Tech | Thrive at work | Nail your next move | Tech leader turned coach | Mom of 2
Personal trainers are for people who don’t know how to exercise I genuinely used to believe that 🙄 I couldn’t understand why people paid good money for someone to show them how to exercise Then my husband got a trainer and convinced me to do the same I was just starting my coaching business after the birth of our second child I was making no money, had no energy, and definitely no muscles But it’s some of the best money I ever spent Yes, my trainer taught me how to lift weights But she did so much more than that (shoutout to Corinne!) She taught me how to plan workouts, stay healthy, and listen to my body She pushed me to push myself harder than I thought I could without getting hurt She helped me develop the confidence to show up at a weightlifting gym by myself and feel like I belong And exercising with her 3x per week for a few months gave me the accountability I needed to build a habit that now feels natural I don’t question whether I should lift weights on any given day I just go to the gym 2x per week without thinking about it It turns out I inadvertently used the advice I now share with clients from James Clear about building identity-based habits: #1 | IDENTITY: Decide the type of person you want to be In my case, I wanted to feel strong and be able to safely pick up my kids until they don’t want me to pick them up anymore #2 | PROOF: Find small ways to prove to yourself that you are that person For many things, you can find this inside of yourself. But for weightlifting, I needed education and accountability from someone else to make it happen And I’m so grateful that I did It still feels a little bit weird to say, but here goes: I am a weightlifter 🏋️♀️ What habit are you trying to build? How can the IDENTITY + PROOF method help? p.s., if you’re in San Francisco and looking for a great trainer, let me know :) (it helps that my gym is outside ☀️ )
