Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a renewable fuel that falls under the paraffinic fuels category according to the European fuel standard EN 15940. It has the potential to cut CO2 emissions by up to 90% when utilized in engines, offering substantial environmental advantages and the opportunity for naval and governmental authorities to lessen the CO2 footprint of their active fleets. The decrease in CO2 emissions is due to the closed carbon cycle: the CO2 produced by the combustion in our engines was originally captured from the atmosphere by the plants that are processed into the fuel. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the production and transportation of the raw materials and HVO also generate other greenhouse gases, which are part of the overall lifecycle. It is noteworthy that all our modern diesel engines, models S2000, S4000 are - and soon to follow S1163 + S8000 - designed to operate with HVO. What an eye-catcher – our mtu Series 8000 engine on the test bench! Every single series 8000 engine is subjected to thourough testing before it is delivered to the customer. And why? Because each of these mega-diesels is capable of delivering up to 10 MW (~13.600PS/bhp)of pure power. Before they hit the road, around 35 qualified production employees carefully assemble each engine, guaranteeing a dependable performance in service. After passing stringent testing the engines depart our facility. They are then ready for unlimited low-load operation across the oceans and will accelerate your vessel quicker and realiable for decades of duty.
