Would Neuroinclusion Hub be a start-up without branded office merch? Nope! I'm so proud to show off my favorite of our merch so far, our fidgets. Y'all, I take my "pop-it" fidget everywhere I go, and I'd estimate 95% of the time I'm the only adult in the room with one. Just four years ago, I found that unique need, the need to keep my hands busy at all times, incredibly embarrassing. Especially since the reason is a bit grim. Without the fidget, I skin pick - a form of self-harm. My pop-it keeps me safe and regulated wherever I am, and that includes the office around my coworkers of all titles. Neuroinclusion Hub aims not just to increase neurodivergent employment opportunities, but also to create psychologically safe environments for neurodivergent staff to thrive. We lead by example, and this is one way. I openly and without embarrassment use my pop-it now, even on panels or talks where everyone is looking at me. I'm open about the reasons behind it. Now we have about 1,000 of these to give out at events. I hope for a day when 95% of the time, I'm not the only one in the room using a fidget in a corporate environment. We did it!! I am so very proud of us!! 🎉 How many times have you thought, 'Someone should do something about that,' only to move on with your day? That happens to me all the time and I may get as far as starting the conversation but with my busy schedule, too often I drop the ball. But this time, I couldn't let it slide. Two years back, in a chat with Steffi Freedman (@freedmanteamrealtors), we discussed the need for real estate agents to thrive despite life's interruptions. Often, it would’ve been too easy to stop the conversation, drop the ball and let it go but in the true spirit of “she persisted“ we refused to let it go! the program has been developed, and, as of yesterday, our program is live! 🚀 our hope is that this program makes it’s way across all markets! T.A.G. stands for “Trusted Agent Group”. @jenna_leggette_realtor and I co-founded this new initiative to help fellow agents navigate life's ups and downs - from expected events like "Parental Leave" and "Aging Parents" to unexpected challenges like illness, accidents, or the loss of a loved one - all while maintaining and sustaining their business. As agents, we often lack a safety net during these times, but that ends now. We can do better, and we will. Disagreeableness is defined as a personality trait marked by a strong sense of independence, assertiveness and willingness to challenge the status quo in social situations (sound familiar 😉 ?) Agreeableness is often prized in leadership, and disagreeable is often overlooked. Even though this trait holds profound importance in driving innovation, fostering critical thinking, and challenging the status quo. Here's why #leaders need to embrace it: 💭 It drives diversity of thought - disagreeable leaders welcome dissenting opinions, fostering innovation 🤔 Critical Thinking - they promote constructive debates, leading to deeper insights 👬 Preventing Groupthink - By encouraging healthy debate, they avoid conformity 📈 Driving Accountability - Disagreeable leaders hold themselves and others accountable, fostering growth ⚡ Resilience in Adversity - Their willingness to confront challenges head-on ensures organizational resilience. Last but not least, insight #3. The one that you've all been waiting for 😉 At a recent #SXSWs session about GenZ at work, a young woman introduced herself as "1 of the four GenZ-ers in the room" before asking her question. The awkward silence that followed was telling. As business leaders, we desperately try to figure out what attracts and retains #GenZ -ers in the workplace. But instead of "othering" them, let's take a page out of the 'inclusive design thinking' book and design our organizations not only FOR but WITH the cross-generational teams we work with. Inclusive design thinking will help you drive accessibility, market expansion, innovation, user-centricity, and reduce friction. By leveraging the collective brainpower of our teams, especially #GenZ, we can create dynamic workplaces that prioritize human needs, leading to enhanced experiences and satisfaction.
