Ever wondered what it's like to get a sneak preview of a new office while on a #workcation? Margarett Javier (Maggie), our Manila-based Office Experience Manager, had the chance to do just that when she visited our Klook Singapore office a few days before its official opening! 🎈 During her stay, Maggie enjoyed some local flavors, thanks to the generosity of our Singaporean colleagues who played host. "I'm thankful to Qiyi Liao for organizing dinner at Satay Street @ Lau Pa Sat. I learned they close the street every evening at 7 pm so tourists can enjoy an authentic open-air hawker experience. Lunch was also fantastic at a nearby hawker spot where they serve fish curry, perfectly paired with white rice." One particular moment that left an imprint on her mind? "Our stay at Furama City Centre, which I booked on the Klook app using our Workcation allowance, was wonderful. The hotel’s service was top-notch, and the Hotel Manager’s warmth really stood out. He welcomed my kids with chocolates when we arrived and even handed out lollipops to calm my youngest when he was upset. Such a thoughtful touch made our stay even more special." Traveling with a family of five, Maggie recommended Universal Studios and S.E.A. Aquarium as must-visit, family-friendly attractions in #Singapore. "My kids loved every train ride and were fascinated by the aquatic creatures—new core memories unlocked!" #YourWorldofJoy #KlookWorkcation #LifeatKlook

🌏✨ Lessons from My Trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ✨🌏 I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—a trip that taught me far more than I expected. Here are a few key takeaways from my experience: 🍜 Cultural Discovery Through Food: There’s no better way to understand a culture than through its food, and KL was a feast for the senses. From street food to traditional Malay, Chinese, and Indian dishes, each bite told a story of the city’s rich heritage. It was truly a reminder that food connects us all, no matter where we are! 🚆 Navigating a New City: Figuring out how to get around a new city is always a challenge, but it taught me so much. Staying calm, problem-solving, and a good map app became my best friends! 😅 I learned how to trust my instincts and stay on track—even when I thought I was lost. 🤝 Teamwork Was Key: The best part of the trip was realizing how much teamwork makes everything smoother. Whether it was splitting up tasks or deciding on the next spot to visit, working together kept the trip fun and organized. 🚇 Public Transportation is the winner: Kuala Lumpur’s public transportation system was the unsung hero of my trip! The city’s MRT, LRT, and bus networks made navigating its vibrant streets incredibly smooth and stress-free (buses were often empty! 😎 ) . It highlighted just how transformative and efficient infrastructure can be. Whether for locals or travelers, reliable public transit doesn’t just make exploring easier—it enhances the overall experience and keeps the city moving. In KL, public transportation was truly the game changer. This is a powerful reminder that investing in infrastructure plays a huge role in shaping the quality of life in any city. Overall, this trip was a reminder of how travel is not just about the sights you see, but the lessons you learn along the way. 🌍✈️ #TravelLessons #CulturalExperience #Teamwork

A trip to Singapore can be a fantastic experience, offering a blend of modernity, diverse cultures, delicious food, and unique attractions. Here's a brief overview to help you plan: 1. Best Time to Visit: Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate, so it's warm and humid throughout the year. The wettest months are from November to January, but it can rain at any time. 2. Top Attractions: Marina Bay Sands: Iconic hotel with a stunning rooftop infinity pool and observation deck. Gardens by the Bay: Spectacular gardens with the famous Supertree Grove. Sentosa Island: A resort island with beaches, theme parks like Universal Studios Singapore, and various attractions. Singapore Zoo & Night Safari: Explore wildlife in both day and night settings. Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam: Experience Singapore's diverse cultures, foods, and heritage. 3. Food: Singapore is a food lover's paradise with a mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences. Try dishes like Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa, Char Kway Teow, and Chili Crab. 4. Shopping: Orchard Road: Famous shopping street with a plethora of malls and boutiques. Bugis Street: Vibrant street market with affordable shopping. 5. Transportation: Singapore has an efficient public transportation system, including the MRT (subway), buses, and taxis. Consider getting an EZ-Link card for convenience. 6. Culture and Etiquette: Singapore is a multicultural society with influences from Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western cultures. Respect local customs and be mindful of local laws, such as restrictions on littering or chewing gum. 7. Safety: Singapore is generally safe for tourists, but as with any destination, be aware of your surroundings and take standard precautions against petty crimes. #SingaporeBusinessVisa #Singaporeform14 #SingaporeformV39 #SingaporeVisaOnlineprocess #SingaporeEvisa #Singaporevisaarrivel #SingaporeVisav4u #SingaporeHotelBooking #SingaporeFlightTicketBooking #AuthorizedvisaagentforsingaporeinGurgaon #TouristvisaforSingaporefromIndia #Applysingaporevisaonlineforindiancitizens

In the past two days (the weekend of the previous week), we had a trip to another thousand-year old city #Yangzhou with partents for #familytime. Working hard, maybe also smart, is for life with bettering living, right? The trip is enjoyable about culture, people, food and so on...even the price of the star hotels in Yangzhou is relatively higher than that in Suzhou, Hangzhou, even Shanghai. How is that? The post has been shared in my #wechat moment as attached.

🏠 Home 回家: Reflecting on the Meaning of Chinese New Year Chinese New Year holds a special place in my heart as a time for family reunions and cherished memories. Growing up away from my hometown Bukit Mertajam in Penang, the significance of returning home during this festive season has always been profound. Over the years, my journey has taken me from my hometown to distant cities, from studying abroad in Melbourne for 5 years to working in Kuala Lumpur for 2 years and Singapore for almost 15 years, shaping my experiences and deepening my appreciation for the moments spent with loved ones. Despite the distances, I've made it a priority to journey back home for Chinese New Year, with only two exceptions during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 and 2022. Being away from home for a significant portion of my life, the anticipation and excitement of returning home are unmatched. However, the reality of the distance also brings its challenges, especially when it comes to concerns for my parents' well-being. Balancing my responsibilities in Singapore with the desire to care for my parents in their time of need has been a constant struggle. There have been occasions when my trips home were not for joyous celebrations, but rather to be by my parents' side during difficult times, including hospitalizations. The loss of my father during the CNY period in 2020 after 5 weeks in ICU, and the loss of my mother in March 2022, amidst the backdrop of the pandemic, has profoundly altered the meaning of going home. Now, as I reflect on the significance of Chinese New Year and the concept of home, it's not just about physical proximity, but also about cherishing the memories and values passed down by my parents. While they may no longer be with me, their presence continues to guide and inspire me, making every journey back home a poignant reminder of love, loss, and the enduring spirit of family. As we embark on this new year, let's treasure the moments spent with our loved ones and hold dear the memories of those who have shaped our lives. Wishing everyone a meaningful Chinese New Year filled with love, joy, and cherished reunions. 🏮🧧 #Tangnology #ChineseNewYear #Homecoming #Family #Memories

Co-founder l Hire Your Virtual Assistant at $7/hr l Helping you partner with the best Philippine-based Virtual Assistant
When you plan to visit the Philippines, your virtual assistants will probably say "You have to try balut!" This might leave you scratching your head. What exactly is balut, and is it something you should add to your itinerary? Balut is a developing duck embryo, boiled and eaten in the shell. It's a popular street food in the Philippines, considered a delicacy by many. The flavor is savory and slightly sweet, with a texture that can be both soft and crunchy. While the idea might seem unusual to Western palates, balut is a cultural icon in the Philippines. It's seen as a source of strength and virility, and often enjoyed with friends and family as a shared experience. So, should you take your VA up on their offer? Ultimately, the decision is yours. If you're an adventurous eater, balut could be a fascinating introduction to Filipino cuisine. However, if you're squeamish about unusual foods, it's perfectly okay to politely decline. Here's the thing: Filipinos are incredibly hospitable, and offering balut is a way of sharing their culture with you. Even if you don't partake, appreciate the gesture and perhaps ask them about the significance of this unique dish. After all, building a strong working relationship with your VA goes beyond just tasks. It's about cultural exchange and mutual respect. So, the next time balut is offered, approach it with an open mind, and you might just discover a new culinary adventure! #virtualassistant #outsourcing

After a year, I stopped by my second home, Singapore. It was still as vibrant as ever, with all its charm intact. Some people say that Singapore lacks tourist attractions and isn't interesting, but I don't agree. If you step away from the skyscraper areas and take a slight detour, you'll find bustling hawker centers full of people enjoying their meals, a rich culture and history that has accumulated over the years, along with friendly and kind people. Additionally, there are few countries where you can reach a pristine tropical rainforest within 30 minutes by car from the bustling city center and then see wild crocodiles in a wetland area just 15 minutes further. I love eating at lively hawker centers. I enjoyed a delightful time with my friend in Singapore while having Ban mian and my favorite dragon fruit and soursop juice. During my five years of working in Singapore, I learned a lot: - Actively adopt new technologies and try them out first - If you fail, admit it honestly and make quick adjustments - Clearly define the nation's goals and lead the country strategically with strong leadership - Continue to learn and challenge yourself with entirely new things, no matter your age - The acceptance and celebration of diversity etc. It was disappointing not to visit my colleagues' office in Singapore this time due to time constrains, and to find that my favorite oyster mee sua stall in the neighborhood had closed down. However, this visit reminded me of the values I want to continue cherishing. I want to continue taking on new challenges by applying the important lessons I learned from everyone I interacted with and the diverse cultures in Singapore. P.S. As part of the small action I have been learning from Eric Sim, I posted in my own words for the first time. #singapore #culturaldiversity #66smallactions
