The Zettelkasten method effectively organises your notes and builds a knowledge base for easy reference. This method involves creating three types of notes: 1. Fleeting Notes: Quick notes taken while reading or thinking, summarizing ideas. 2. Lecture Notes: More detailed notes taken after reading or contemplating a topic, summarizing information in your own words. 3. Permanent Notes: Notes you want to keep long-term, expanding on ideas and connecting them to other notes. Obsidian, a free and open-source note-taking app, is well-suited for the Zettelkasten method. To set up your Zettelkasten system in Obsidian: 1. Create folders for Fleeting Notes, Lecture Notes, and Permanent Notes. 2. In the Fleeting Notes folder, create a new note for each idea, writing a summary. 3. In the Lecture Notes folder, create a new note for each information source, summarizing the content in your own words. 4. Link Fleeting and Lecture Notes to Permanent Notes. 5. In the Permanent Notes folder, create a new note for each idea, expanding on it and connecting it to other notes. Aim to focus on one idea per page to keep your notes organized and easily searchable.
