Here's one more presentation I'll be giving at the upcoming VSC 2023 conference. Started Tasks (a.k.a. Started Procedures) are primarily system service processes. In this presentation, you will learn the sources of Started Task procedures and how they are initiated. You will also see how RACF uses STARTED class profiles and ICHRIN03 table entries to assign IDs to Started Tasks. We'll examine the power of TRUSTED and PRIVILEGED authorities and where IBM recommends they be used. Lastly, we'll discuss the considerations and best practices for defining Started Tasks to RACF. To gain the most benefit from this presentation, bring a copy of your DSMON RACSPT report. P.S. If you enjoy presentations that spend 90% of the time citing scary statistics on computer security failures and losses to maximize FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) and 10% of the time on useful information, you'll be very disappointed in my presentations. My presentations devote 100% of the time to technical information and practical recommendations to help you secure your systems.

If having visibility for every single event in a network is causing a problem, you should consider implementing TLP method for such noise intensive alerts environment. You don’t want to miss alerts just because of the size, rather have TLP classified alerts for easier detection and management. #threatintelligence #threatdetection #detectionengineering #soc
