In the last 12 days I have had the pleasure and challenge of being in Singapore, Malaysia and India, and in the busiest waterways on the planet, conducting both extensive at-sea exercises and inport international engagements. For Port Klang and Port Blair, it’s a historic moment for our service, as we are the first US Coast Guard cutter that has ever arrived. Here’s my top 10 - what I learned: 1/The ocean does not separate us. It connects us. 2/Global commerce is maritime. Full stop. 3/Our future, our prosperity, our climate/planet is inescapably shared 4/Listening to understand (vs reply) builds strategic empathy 5/Service in any uniform has a beautiful common purpose, our community, our children, our dreams for our country 6/Everything moves at the speed of trust 7/Food, culture, history, smiles are meant to be shared 8/When you are humble and vulnerable enough to share your challenges, it is then that you will hear other’s concerns, fears, and obstacles they too face 9/State Dept and US Embassy teams are amazing 10/Global logistics is challenging and expensive AF (maybe this should be #1)
‘Bertholf’ makes waves in Port Klang

TIACA Air Cargo and Logistics Regional Forum to be held for the first time in Central Asia From June 19th to 21st, 2024, the Republic of Kazakhstan will host, for the first time, the Air Cargo and Logistics Regional Forum. The event will be held under the auspices of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Civil Aviation Committee. It will be co-organized by the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan. The Cargo Forum will take place within the framework of the 2nd Aviation Talks and will be themed 'Silk Road in the Sky – Kazakhstan Air Cargo Hub.' Participants will engage in discussions regarding key aspects of the air cargo industry, including transit potential, multimodal transportation, innovations and digitalization in cargo transport, airport infrastructure, logistics centers, efficient customs procedures, sustainable aviation fuel, cooperation with international air carriers, and investments in training and personnel. The Forum is expected to engage stakeholders across the entire air cargo logistics chain, both at international and regional levels. It serves as a key event for sharing experiences, networking, and addressing current industry challenges. With the rapid growth of globalization, the development of cargo aviation plays a crucial role in modern logistics and trade and stands as a key element in Kazakhstan’s multimodal logistics strategy. The development of cargo aviation in Kazakhstan not only contributes to its integration into the global economy but also creates new opportunities for transit and logistics infrastructure development. This, in turn, acts as a catalyst for economic growth and reinforces the country’s international positioning. “We are excited to support economic growth and promote a flourishing and expanded logistics industry by working with the AAK to organize a first-class conference, which will bring together over 300 decision-makers from the local community and across the globe to network, showcase their expertise and solutions, as well as to learn and debate pressing issues affecting the Central Asian region”, said Steven Polmans, TIACA Chair. The detailed programme of the event will be published on the website of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan on 15 March this year. Pre-registration is required to participate in the TIACA Regional Forum and will be available until 15 May 2024. To participate in the Forum as a speaker, please email Fal@caa.gov.kz by 15 April 2024. To register in the Forum as an external participant, please follow the link https://lnkd.in/dQA92dkf.
