Galliford Try PLC (LSE:GFRD) has landed two new contracts in London with a combined value of £87.00 million. The builder will undertake a £53.00 million redevelopment project at 30-33 Sloane Street, in which it will retain the site’s historic façade whilst constructing a six-storey building with luxury retail spaces, category-A offices, and a rooftop restaurant. A separate £34.00 million contract in Wapping, with Big Yellow Self Storage, will see the firm deliver a 133,000 sqft facility featuring self-storage units, flexible office spaces, a business hub, and workspace accommodation. "Maintaining the organic growth of our Building business is a key part of our Sustainable Growth Strategy and our track record in the commercial sector within London is a strong one,” chief executive Bill Hocking said. Norwich City Council have announced their successful purchase of the Anglia Square Shopping Centre. The acquisition will enable us to revitalise this key area of Norwich, with ambitious plans to transform Anglia Square into a vibrant, modern hub. Plans include up to 1,100 new homes and a variety of retail, office and leisure spaces. #London is such a fine balance of #planning for the future and respecting the past. This morning I saw this amazing footage of a car driving around #TottenhamCourtRoad from the 1960s, so jumped on my bike and recorded the exact route, as our office is right behind #CharlotteStreet. Two things really jumped out at me. Firstly, the street level grain at eye level really hasn't changed at all. The shops and brands and have all come and gone, but really it's the same set up of small family owned shops and restaurants etc, right next door to bigger businesses. You could go back in time and feel immediately at home. It's one of the things I love most about #fitzrovia. The little side streets, finding new routes to walk along. It's fun trying to get a little bit lost, you always end up finding something new. Secondly, what happens above street level, has changed massively. What used to be storage for shops has become offices. Thin and tall buildings, which used to be town houses, have merged to make way for much larger more open floor plates. At able partners, Creative Adaptive Reuse is our challenge for the future of Central London and asks the question: How do we create modern adaptable buildings that will last the next 50-100 years as the City densifies and London looks to maintain its global dominance as 'the place' to work, whilst maintaining its incredible heritage? #fitzrovia, #london, #heritage
