Within the ancient temple of centuries, a timeless saying prevails: "In times of difficulty, true companions reveal themselves; during harsh winters, the characteristics of resilience are showcased by the pine and cypress trees." Similar to the enduring nature of the firmly grounded pine and cypress, ROADWAY tires exhibit remarkable durability against the trials of time and varying weather conditions, remaining steadfast in their quality and choice of premium materials. Each voyage transforms into a battle with destiny, with ROADWAY tires exemplifying unwavering determination by shouldering the load selflessly. Beyond being mere silent voyagers on the roads, these tires symbolize trust, perpetuating the legacy of bravery and fortitude. Opting for ROADWAY signifies a commitment that transcends temporal and spatial boundaries, turning every expedition into a timeless narrative of resilience and immortality.

When does a whole linear track become a heritage asset? We have numerous canal-based conservation areas, and there is at least one long-distance railway conservation area (Settle-Carlisle) but for the most part our tracks, roads and railways dating from the Prehistoric period to the 20th century are rarely thought of as NDHA’s. This, despite our national inclination to identify heritage assets and then worry about the effect of change on setting. Several A-roads have their own Wikipedia entries, and some B-roads get a look-in too, such as the B6318 in Northumberland incorporating the Military Road built in the 1750s. So somebody loves them. I am not advocating the identification of our entire transport network as a structure of any particular heritage significance (far from it), but what happens to this thread when you start pulling on it? And what was envisaged in this regard by the people who invented the concept of the “heritage asset”?

Lighthouses are the beacon of light that, for thousands of years, symbolised safety and security for ships and boats at sea. These iconic structures mark hazardous coastlines, dangerous shoals, and safe harbour entries, preventing countless maritime accidents. The first known lighthouse in history was the Pharos of Alexandria, also known simply as the Lighthouse of Alexandria. It was constructed around 280 BC on the small island of Pharos by the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. At the time it was one of the tallest man-made structures in the world and it is said to be more than 350 feet tall. Its light was produced by a furnace at the top, which could be seen from up to 50 kilometres (31 miles) away. This monumental structure guided sailors into the bustling harbor of Alexandria, to prevent them from becoming shipwrecked on the rocky coast. Although it was eventually destroyed by earthquakes, the Pharos remains a lasting symbol of maritime safety and innovation, as well as being one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Lighthouses continue to be important navigational aids, even in the age of advanced GPS and electronic navigation systems, standing as enduring symbols of maritime history and safety. #Nationallighthouseday #Lighthouses #MaritimeHistory #NauticalSafety #BeaconOfLight #Navigation #SeaSafety #MaritimeHeritage #CoastalGuardians #SymbolOfHope #Sailing #SeaNavigation #LighthouseHistory #PharosOfAlexandria

Clean Arctic volunteers to reconstruct monuments to explorers at Cape Chelyuskin cemetery The work will feature specialists of the Taymyr Museum of Local History and the Russian Geographical Society MOSCOW, October 21/ A team of volunteers during an expedition to Cape Chelyuskin will restore monuments to polar explorers, the Clean Arctic project's press service said. "The cemetery site is on the coast - between the polar station and the border outpost. Cape Chelyuskin is known for an interesting feature - there is no ice by the shore, so real Arctic storms are raging the place, plus permafrost," the press service quoted the expedition's leader Vitaly Kalinichev as saying. "All these factors, of course, have a devastating effect on the monuments, and we will have to choose optimal reconstruction materials so that they lasted as long as possible." The expedition team took measurements to renovate memorial plaques and fences. The monuments will be restored next summer - during the project's another expedition to Cape Chelyuskin. The work will feature specialists of the Taymyr Museum of Local History and the Russian Geographical Society. The Clean Arctic volunteers will pay special attention to the restoration, since the peninsula is home to Eurasia's northernmost airfield, from where the Russian polar aviation has begun. The harsh weather destroys the monuments, and inscriptions on some tombstones have become unreadable. The cemetery has five graves of polar explorers, who died in the 1930s and 1940s. Back then, the North's transport system was only developing, and it was impossible to transport the bodies from the cape. The propeller of a crashed plane is at the foot of the monument to fallen pilots. (Part One, Continued in Part Two in the next post) #business #finance #financialservices

The landscape of the 𝗪𝗮𝗱𝗶 𝗥𝘂𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗻 is iconic for its: • Isolated steep sandstone outcrops, each with its unique shape and character. Physical erosion by wind and water has worn away the softer rocks, leaving behind the more resistant formations that dot the landscape. • Remarkable red coloration, caused by iron oxide in the rocks, giving a cinematic feeling of Mars on Earth. Both conditions can be found in other parts of the world, that were once the seabeds, accumulating sedimentary deposits, and later experiencing intense erosion as the land was uplifted. Just a few examples from regions of this genesis, which are often featured thanks to The Royal Film Commission - Jordan, Utah Film Commission, Moab to Monument Valley Film Commission, Screen Australia. South America is the only continent without red deserts, as they result from the erosion of the Caledonian orogeny, which is absent there.

In the US state of #NorthCarolina, the NCDOT and Federal Highway Administration are building a massive interchange linking a circumferential highway around the city of Raleigh with Interstate 40 and another expressway. It’s part of a project running into the billions of US dollars that is financed largely through borrowing (https://lnkd.in/enjTN4MH) This is how the project compares to central #Paris, where far more people are on the move each day relative to Raleigh. Yet, plenty of space remains for #housing, commercial #realestate, #museums, and venues for special events— like the #Olympics. Which would you rather have? A vast interchange or a vibrant world city?
