Are you a keyboard or mouse person? If you are using the mouse to select text, then these tips are for you. Recently I wanted to select and copy a line of text so I could reuse it repeatedly. I added it to my Quick Parts Gallery, and this was helpful. More on that later. But for now, the thing is I just needed to get on with it. That meant I had to select the text, copy it, and paste it. TIP 1 💡 I noticed I instinctively used Shift Home to select the line, then CTRL C to copy it and then CTRL V to paste it. Did you know you can use keyboard shortcuts Shift Home or Shift End to select a line of text? For me it is much easier than selecting with the mouse. Have you tried this and what do you think? TIP 2 💡 Getting back to the Quick Parts Gallery. It is a great tool for saving time. 1️⃣ Select the text, which could be a table, paragraph, sentence, or a whole document/email, etc. 2️⃣ Click the Insert tab 3️⃣ Click Quick Parts 4️⃣ At the bottom click Save selection to Quick Parts Gallery 5️⃣ Give the quick part an abbreviation for example x and click OK. Thereafter when you want to use that text again simple type x and press the function key F3. Tip 3 💡 When you copy anything it is available in the windows clipboard. Once copied use the shortcut Windows key and V to access everything you copied in this session. Simple click the item to paste it. Think about all the times you have searched for a piece of text you have used before to copy and paste it into the current document/email. These 3 shortcuts should save you lots time. I am using Microsoft 365 Outlook Emails and Word. Good luck with these 3 shortcuts and please let me know what you think. #quickparts #timesavers #keyboardshortcuts #shifthome #shiftend #F3
