My current contract is for a school, so it seems like a good time to share some accessibility resources for education! I share knowledge and skills to help those interested in becoming Learning Experience/Instructional Designers // I create learning experiences // Educator //
Most people I know, who are Learning Experience/Instructional Designers, didn’t go to school to study learning design. So, how exactly did they become LXD/IDs? Here’s what I’ve observed: - On-the-job training (from another learning designer/s) aka "shadowing" - Some take short courses in learning/instructional design - Learn from online sources such as YouTube - Natural progression from facilitator/training admin to learning design - Others just accidentally fall into it (like me) How did you find your way into L&D or Learning Design? ✍ your story in the comments below!

🌟 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀! 🌟 Hello Learning and Development Professionals! We all understand the importance of visuals in microlearning, but are your designs optimized for maximum impact? Watch out for these common graphic design mistakes that could be hindering your learner's experience: 1. 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀: Simplicity is key! A crowded layout can overwhelm learners, making it difficult to absorb crucial information. Opt for a clean, well-organized space that clearly presents learning materials without distractions. 2. 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲: Uniformity matters. Inconsistent use of fonts, colors, and styles can make your content seem disjointed and unprofessional. A cohesive visual theme not only looks better but also reinforces learning consistency. 3. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘆: Help learners focus on what’s important. Without a clear visual hierarchy using size, color, and placement effectively, key information may get lost. A well-structured hierarchy ensures learners know where to look first and what to prioritize. 4. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: Ensure text and images work together effectively. When one dominates the other, it can disrupt learning and engagement. Integrating these elements smoothly can greatly enhance understanding and retention.
