TRUSTING IN TECHNOLOGY Really looking forward to showcasing at the Smart Buildings Show what getting back to basics means when using tech to make buildings work better, but with a different slant, by exploring the real practical stuff that makes a difference at the coal face to underpin much grander outcomes. Having been in the UK and international M&E maintenance market for 45 years, my own experience confirms that in many fundamental ways, little has changed, so there's so much more we can do as an industry to embrace technology in pursuit of better.

Will we see you at Light+Building?? NeoCortec will for the first time exhibit at Light+Building, and we are really excited about this! Finally we are attending an exhibition where the focus is not on how we make it work, rather than what can you do with. The answer is smart buildings, measure IAQ, control energy smarter, fire detectors, smart displays, smart city lights, smart agriculture, demand controlled ventilation, save energy and save the world from alot of CO2. But we really want you to come by us so that we we can tell you that in person! Very entry tickets for those who need it - just respond to this post or email info@neocortec.com. And on Thursday 7th March at 11:00-11:25 our CEO Thomas Steen Halkier will present at the exhibitor stage (foyer, Hall 11.0). Title of the presentation is ‘Extending wireless sensor network to really large buildings without infrastructure'. Long title, but easy to grasp and to implement 😀 Will we see you?

Femtocells have evolved from basic coverage extenders into indispensable components of modern wireless networks, enhancing indoor cellular coverage, and catering to both residential and enterprise needs. They improve indoor coverage, enable private and localized networks and alleviate network congestion by offloading data traffic from macro networks. Read our recent whitepaper on this topic, covering femtocell’s history, technical evolution, current applications, challenges, considerations, future prospects and Salience’s use cases. In a recent telecommunications project in the KSA, Salience Consulting recommended the deployment of femtocells as a strategic solution to address specific challenges faced by our client related to keeping the aesthetics of the smart city environment, while at the same time enhancing the indoor coverage. This foresighted approach will not only provide an efficient solution for the project but also will establish a collaborative environment between our client and telecommunications vendors, fostering innovation and growth in the industry. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dc8GFNMD

💥 SHDF Wave 3 has been announced this week. There’s understandably an awful lot to think about in pulling together a bid but two noteworthy points on measurement and monitoring to be aware of: 1) Innovation points will be awarded to applicants that use “smart technology, sensors and/or monitoring platforms to collect relevant real-world data (from the properties being retrofitted) for the assessment of properties to enable retrofit, and/or after retrofit for monitoring and evaluation purposes.” (pg53) 2) On eligible measures “SAP-eligible technologies which would enable Smart Meter Enabled Thermal Efficiency Ratings (SMETER) (such as smart thermostats) are an eligible measure for Wave 3. Applicants who intend to install SMETER technologies are encouraged to install these into homes before any other measures, so that the effect of changes to the home can be recorded.” (pg25) A particularly good win-win here would be to use SHDF to support the cost of installing smart thermostats that can in turn offer robust assessment of building performance 😉 We have some fantastic customers in this space delivering measurements as a service. We also have a good number of smart technology, smart thermostat and monitoring equipment companies integrating our building performance insights algorithms into their product offerings. This is a real opportunity to get fully funded measurements of the effect of different retrofit measures to understand if what you install works as intended. As well as driving better quality on these particular projects and avoiding unintended consequences, this could be important long term to inform future retrofit plans based on what materials & processes work best. Including performance measurements even gets extra points on the assessment of the submission to help win the funding, so they should be a real no-brainer for all applications.
