The statement makes a sad reading. Make billions for silicon valley and help USA in it's rivalry with China. What about Zambia?

Mining is an extractive industry... The title of the article just shows that the mine is here to extract and run away. Definitely a lot of capital flight will take place Gone are the days when mines had positive externalities. The best model of mining is the Scandinavian Model adopted by Norway when it found it's oil it provides a classic example of what a country can achieve with it's mineral wealth...not these African experiments we keep seeing without translating into economic growth and development

No mention of how these minerals will help the Zambian people? Shameful. You guys are still doing the same horrible investment strategies where the communities you take the minerals from remain poor. How does this work for the Zambian people? You should be putting that into perspective.

Potentially controversial, but it needs to be said: While it's great to see mainstream coverage of our industry and the highlighting of new players, this article most certainly misses the mark. The deposit's economic potential is hindered by very complex geotechnical and hydrogeological issues - the same ones that caused Anglo American to walk away previously. These aren't minor obstacles; they're fundamental challenges that can make or break a project. Parading this as a massive success at this stage is precisely why our industry struggles with its reputation among investors and the general public. We need to be more transparent about the hurdles we face, not just the potential rewards. What's particularly concerning is the lack of thought regarding the benefits to the host nation, Zambia. As Dr. Chelwa aptly put it, "The benefits of this mine for Zambia are purely theoretical at this point." We have a responsibility to ensure that our projects offer tangible, long-term advantages to the countries we operate in.

Sounds more about rivalry between Chiba and US than a win win between Zambia and US.

The PR team has had a nightmare here! What are you doing for your hosts in Zambia? Sending all that money back to Palo Alto? Jeez not a good look.

This whole story has a very potent agricultural odour?

We use AI too… generally to help countries unlock thier in-ground resources to help them achieve economic prosperity. Not to be used as pawns in a geopolitical system. Worse article this year by far… www.geoscanauspac.com

Wrong decision ever made by the republic to offer such a mining venture to American backed companies with motives of competing with China instead of uplifting the lives of Zambians and the economy.

EMR also sold its entire stake in the adjacent Mingomba copper project for a sizeable, undisclosed amount to California-based start up KoBold Metals."
