Our recent letter in Fertility & Sterility, led by our senior fellow Quetrell Heyward, MD, MBA, demonstrates the relatively low success rates in IUI, even in same sex females and unpartnered females. More importantly, we also demonstrate a clear plateau in clinical pregnancy/ongoing pregnancy rates after 2-3 IUI cycles in heterosexual couples and 4 IUI cycles in same sex females and unpartnered females. Patients should be clearly counseled on these success rates and the plateau effect across IUI cycles to decrease cost, time to pregnancy and patient drop out. Moving to IVF sooner may make sense for many of these patients. #IUI #IVF Alan Penzias IVIRMA Global Denny Sakkas Boston IVF

***Attention app developers…*** I had what I think is a brilliant idea. I would like someone to develop an app that takes all of the complex DEEP mental and physical pain we as women have experienced because of the decisions we have had to make about our reproductive health over the years - and then transfers that physical and mental pain to one of the politicians who doesn’t support a woman’s right to make her own decision. I wonder if it would change things??? I have had nine surgeries (specific to laparoscopic laser removal of endometrial tissue related to endometriosis)… additional surgeries for additional reasons - I have also had a three-year stent of primary infertility and multiple doctors telling me I would never be able to get pregnant- then nine miscarriages (twins once) one blighted ovum - one abortion, five live births- one of them, emergency C-section due to placenta abruption and about 45 years of stage four endometriosis pain, no answers- more exploratory surgeries- multiple hospitalizations, many MAAANY surgeries- more days lost than I can count and decades of mental health decline because of the pain… MOSTLY- Because of the refusal of male doctors to listen to me… Because for years, I was told “it was all in my head”… that I was “dramatic”… And that I “couldn’t possibly be thinking straight enough to make a single decision for myself”. For just five minutes, I would truly like the politicians who object to a woman making her own decision to be forced to deal with the lifetimes of pain Many of us suffer- and most of us never received the kind of care that looks like an actual answer- and I promise you, the vast majority of women in this world are perfectly capable of making their own decisions- after all they live in their skin and with their uteruses and ovaries, 24 /7 - and whether or not they have given birth **they are WOMAN** which means they’re powerful and SMART — and WISE - Certainly smart enough to make the decisions related to our own reproductive health and wise enough to know, we’ve been doing it quite WELL for millennia ❤️ #JustAnIdea.

We learned these 3 things by hitting the streets and asking strangers about #ovulation Very recently, my teammate Mrudulata and I took to the streets to ask everyday women a simple question: How much do YOU know about ovulation? It was honestly to record content for social media (stay tuned for this), but we found some very interesting insights: Women in their 40s conceived naturally without needing to track ovulation. But younger women (in 20s & 30s) were more aware of cycles, period apps, and even IVF. We asked a "fun question" (are women born with all their eggs?) and found that most women thought that eggs develop over time– a common misconception. Most women had no clue about the age-related decline in fertility (fertility starts declining after 35yrs). I think there’s clearly a big need for open conversations about ovulation and fertility. Here’s a true/false question for you– A woman’s eggs start depleting sharply around the age of 37 (on average). Comment below. #fertilityawareness #ovulation #womenshealth #mythbusting #iconceive #cycletracking

"Often, as adult women, our hearts long for motherhood and we're willing to do anything, including IVF, to make that happen. But is the process of IVF what is best for the child, or multiple children, we're creating in the process? Are we putting adult desires over rights of babies? Does IVF want fix fertility issues or do they want women to remain infertile? Katy Faust, author, activist, and Founder of Them Before Us will force you to think and have you nodding in agreement or yelling in anger at this episode. Prepare yourself with an open mind for a perspective you've likely never heard as it relates to the very emotional and sensitive topic of IVF and Big Fertility." https://lnkd.in/gk5V89P4

A nurse turned entrepreneur @Binto - Reinventing the way women take care of their health. Start-up lover | Investor | IVF Mom | Women's Health Advocate
1 in 6 women will go through infertility. That's over 13 million women in the U.S. and counting. These women will often do whatever they need to build the family of their dreams (yep, I am one of those). But guess what? The other 5 in 6 people trying to get pregnant also look for fertility support and, of course, support for their subsequent pregnancies. This is now one of Andi Lucas Schmerin PA-C's and my favorite points to bring up with investors or in conversations with other industry leaders; Binto goes after ALL of the women who are TTC, not just the 1 in 6. That's about 65M women in the U.S. One of the main reasons why we launched BINTO as direct-to-consumer first, alongside partnerships with fertility clinics and OBGYN offices. Less red tape (which Andi and I know all too well since we both come from the clinical setting) and a larger market. #entrepreneur #marketsize #fertility #womenshealth #founder
